At 11 years old I cried when Lou Costello died. Bud & Lou have been my all time favorites over Laurel & Hardy which ran a close second. I loved all their TV shows, movies and their support for our troops no matter where they were!! I still miss them today. Thank you sharing this video. God bless!!!

I loved coming home after Mass Sunday morning and watching an Abbott and Costello movie. They both seemed liked really good guys and family men. Chris is such a pretty lady.

Thank you so very much for sharing this, I discovered Lou Costello just a month ago and already could say I'm a hard fan. Love his works and his skits with Bud Abbott, their ridiculous comedy never fails for once to make me laugh!

I believe that both Mr Bud Abbott, and Mr Lou Costello, would be very happy, and proud that there are generations of fans both older, and younger that love their work. I myself am from the 5th generation (Millennial) following the birth year of Lou costello and sixth generation following the birth year of Bud Abbott.

I read her book. It was a great read and felt that I knew and understood them better. I've loved their work in movies and their great television show. They were an exceptional comedy team and one of the top tier entertainers of all time.

"Who's on first?"...funniest skit of all time. I still laugh when I see it. Thanks, Chris. What else can I say. Great team, those guys!!!
It may be incomplete, but it was incredibly informative! I never knew about any of this! Abbott & Costello have been my top favorite comedians of all time since I was a kid. I still watch their material here whenever I find some. So thank you for posting this! It’s nice to know more about them beyond their careers.

It is a shame that this interesting interview of Chris Costello ran out of videotape so that ,unfortunately, the full interview is not on videotape. Her book about her father titled, "Lou's On First" is a superbly written book and is a "must read" for any fan of Abbott & Costello.

I'm proud to consider Chris a valued friend and one of the benefits of getting to know her is her clearing the myths concerning her Dad and Bud Abbott that were written about in the Bob Thomas book.

These conversations with the children of celebrities are always the most interesting. Whether they are being brutally honest or telling a white lie to protect someone, even that is very revealing about the life of which they lived. Glad to see this on youtube.

Lou Costello had the makings of being a good dramatic actor. I saw him guest-starring in a "Wagon Train" TV western episode [which may have been his last acting part before passing away] playing the part of a troubled dad, to a young daughter, with a drinking problem; where he played the part very well.
@luishumbertovega39003 жыл бұрын
I saw that TV Movie, Bud & Lou starring Buddy Hackett as Costello and Harvey Korman as Abbott, very good performances by both stars but kept wondering if all those details in the plot were true. Lou was portrated as a SOB who took every possible advantage of his weak, alcoholic, epilectic, depressive partner. That contrasts with the sensitive, lovable Costello you see in Ralph Edwards' This Is Your Life. Glad to know Chris Costello set that right.

I lived in 1 of the TEST TOWNS for Cable T.V. in the early 1960s. I talked the Cable Guys into letting me put 16mm Films on their projectors and B/W T.V.Camera sent the Pictures to HOMES in our area. Most of those films were A&B after war movies & I must have watched A&B meets Frankenstien 100 times. NOT BAD FOR A 11 Year Old for Saturday Afternoons work. I got FREE CABLE and FREE FILTERS that let me watch things or hear things around the country that were not shown to Customers because of the FCC Rules then.

Christine looks great. Not sure if many people knew or not but she was (very briefly) a part of a girl group called the Bootiques. The single (Date 2-1513) was pretty good but she wasn't really feeling the music biz so no further songs were forthcoming. She wrote both sides. Talent definitely runs in the family!

Very moving interview; Chris comes across as a gracious lady who just wants to set the record straight. Losing a parent at such a young age is never easy, but she seems calm and well-adjusted. In any case, the TV movie “Bud and Lou” was crap - superficial and poorly acted.

Well, from a child's point of view...you couldn't possibly know the tremendous ego and domination he exerted on Bud Abbott. Your Dad become full of himself, and ran rough shot on his partner.

I don't know this to be fact, but at the time it was said that Costello did blame his wife for the tragedy. In this clip Chris is defensive of anyone being held responsible, and this may be a defense of her mother. I have not read the book, perhaps this is commented on in it.
