Gail force winds, bad current, and no trailer guides. What could go wrong? I know this looks simple and calm. but we just had finished a complete restoration, and 15 coats of varnish. You get one chance with this boat ramp, and if you look closley you can see my heart pounding.

Looks like the reedville ramp. Yep she’s a pain on a windy day. Defiantly tested my patience a few times!! Beautiful boat

It is, and no one here gets it. Its a white knuckle experience.

Straight shaft with rudder with a tailwind wanting to push the stern one way or the other. The slower you go the less headway for the rudder to affect steerage. I’d say this operator did an excellent job.

If that was drama, I should be ashamed of some of my approaches...lol Looked good to me.

Looked pretty smooth to me after the one adjustment. For a windy day that was close to perfect with just one stab at the trailer and nailed it, no damage, a 9.5 adjusted for level of difficulty.

I didn't see drama. I saw a pretty decent trailering job on a breezy day. right on the mark.

No drama a true professional, tried to use the wind, with no help. Second attempt was perfect. These straight shaft boats are not easy in close situations, they do NOT back up straight. I have experience.

Every boat retrieval, if you are a good skipper, is nerve wracking. I have done it dozens and dozens of times and I still get nervous. If you take care of your boat and know your shit, it's a big deal and unless conditions are optimal even then it's not a done deal. Sometimes you just take what you get and make adjustments once clear.

Driver could have helped by putting the trailer catered or more to the left. Job well done by the skipper.

Wow, in a million years would I have thought this was click bait, or worthy of the very negative and offensive comments that I will and have put in the trash. For those of you here to see a train wreck, sorry, it didnt happen. The drama was in my heart and head. Until you have done this with a freshly varnished, restored 150K boat on a weak boat ramp, with massive winds and one shot at it, you have no idea of the stress. PLUS - there is no reverse steering, you have to use the prop to thrust the boat in one direction, and in this case its against the dock. Under the trailer, the rear wheel was one inch above a 6 ft drop off. In other words, this is all the ramp, one time shot we would get without trying over and over again. Which is where ALL damage happens. At the dock and ramp. Further more, you can read the entire back story on our Website Woodyboater.com

Well Izzi you are 100% right, sorry. Most of the damage, in my case though, ALL.. I have battle scars from this ramp. I know it doesnt look all that dramatic, but the wind was blowing very hard which is why we stopped to the right of the ramp to be blown into the center. These 25 sportsman with a single engine are a challenge for sure and the boat sits in the boat house all summer, so its a once or twice a year event.

i wasnt trying to be a jerk when i disagreed, (ive damaged my boat away from the dock is all...lol) yes i can fully appreciate that wind. I think my personal greatest feat in boating was docking a 29' regal in a storm that brought lots of wind with it. i get it. all this considered, nice job skipper!

Then again, you COULD have an extra hand actually in the water to guide the boat on. With a boat like that it may have been a good idea. No matter, it worked out okay. Happy now?

Hi Izzi, I knew you weren't, I thought 100 people would see this and it was filmed for our website Woodyboater.com and was never really out there without some background. Boy was I wrong.. Yikes.. part of the issue is not many people get what its like to drive a 70 year old boat.
