Nice work Scott, that steering wheel is gorgeous and the bow light too. Absolutely loved the idea of bending that brass on the spray, you’re becoming a jeweler! How nice is it that you can have your son make you stuff? Loved Speckles total concern with smoke from the trough......Thanks for the fantastic episode

It is so fun to have free rein on a project. I’ve been collecting bits and pieces which are now becoming useful. Thank you for always keeping up with the WBE!

Fantastic progress. Dont know if it’s on your list but add fire extinguishers mounted to the to do list.

You are all over the place but it’s really coming together. I’ve spent many hours in my mind on the water but then I realized I was varnishing the interior.

I find when I work this way, I seldom have delays due to waiting on parts and supplies. As things get done though, it can happen. Often I am matching a job or process to the time available that day or thinking about curing time and temperatures as there is no heat in the boat shed. When the sun goes down in the winter, it gets cold fast in there.

@@glassgoat9601 I bounce around also to make the best use of the weather, materials and time. I really like your touches on the boat.

You're gonna need another blackboard for your list. I find that the list always grows before it begins to shrink. I noticed you attached the splash/bummer rails from inside. Why not from outside and add bungs?

I believe the originals were that way, but not sure. Spray rails take a lot of abuse and I find they can show the condition of the boat before other areas. I figure avoiding any way for water intrusion in those is a plus and taking them off at some point will actually be easier.

Thanks for the tip on not using c p e s under stain I experimented with tung oil and it did take stain fine over it . So if I decide to go with a little extra proration for the wood I’ll tung it ( that didn’t sound right...)

A lot of people with more experience than I have are using CPES, and I may use it on some things, but under brightwork isn't one of them. How a boat is maintained has a lot to do with what should be used on it for sure.

I recommend you turn down the speed of your drill when using a hole saw that help reduce the heat when drilling. looking good bud. When I was a welder fitter for years one time I was siting on my couch and I felt something on the inside of my right arm opposite my forearm. It felt like a section of a tooth pick under the skin. So I went and got and ex ray and apparently it was a piece of steel about the size of the thick end of a toothpick well over a half inch long that had imbedded into my skin and I didn't even know when it happened it could of been years earlier. we couldn't even find were it had entered into my arm. Weird eh!

I think I tried that previously and found this drill too slow when on speed 1 instead of 2, but on that soft Merranti ply anything would probably work. I used to be a welder as well and had a tiny piece of metal in my elbow for years before I finally dug it out one day :) I don't miss the dirtiness and constant smoke of welding.
