At the end I think she was trying to avoid saying she grew to love him bc close friends have a right to love each other. Like there’s a difference between being “in love” with some and “loving” them. I'd literally been thinking that 'Before We Go' would've been a much better movie had Chris chosen Scarlett as his co-star in that movie rather than Alice Eve. Because it's very clearly just a knock off of 'Before Sunrise' and movies like that are built solely out of the chemistry between the leads and Chris and Scarlett have that in spades.
