they will never return. they have a show called The Grand Tour coming out on Amazon Prime. its gonna be better than top gear ever was because they dont have the FCC (British Equivalent) regulations that they had on BBC. plus they can stop pretending so much and just be real. thats what is killing the new top gear is bad acting. thats also what got the worst of all, Top Gear USA cancelled. you cant expect car guys and race car drivers to act. let them be them selves.

Even if they wanted to get them all back, they've signed a contract with Amazon now. To be honest this whole thing is probably for the better, they have a much bigger budget now and don't have to worry as much about restrictions put on them by the BBC.

My prediction is that in the next 5 years, Top Gear will be cut. It may have a reboot down the road, but with the way it's looking with such instability, I think Top Gear UK is going to hit rock bottom. I think the producers need to take more time to plan out the show. Following the original trio's formula is a safe move, but it's empty when the original trio isn't there. They need to find presenters who work well together and those presenters need to find a way that they can entertain the audience to their own fashion. If the presenters could just be themselves like Jeremy Richard and James, it wouldn't be so awkward.

I think to be honest they've replaced 3 motoring journalists with 2 main car enthusiasts, a racing driver, 2 journalists (better because of their day job as a motoring journalists) and an older car enthusiast. Enthusiasm is great, but you also need a journalist that knows the industry and can come up with witty lines due to this knowledge. Also the original 3 had done presenting before. Clarkson and May had done the original top gear so had experience presenting. Hammond had done Men and Motors so reviewing and presenting aswell as journalism. The experience I believe is key as well as the knowledge of the industry. Another guy I find funny is a Jalopnik writer/KZbinr is Doug De Mero. He has his own style and writes and knows the industry from past jobs (worked for Porsche USA), therefore can come up with good lines.

top gear worked because of the "mates down the pub" style presentation from Clarkson, Hammond & May. With this in mind the BBC in their infinite wisdom got a highly strung Brit, a German & an American....Yeah that will work! lol. BBC cant see the woods for the tree's.
