at around 5:35 wow couldn't have said it better myself. i enjoy cars and i enjoy racing but i don't care about f1 or track racing. i like road cars and want to live out the fantasy of racing on the streets and dodging traffic with heavily modded and customized cars. i want to run from cops and go on police chases. no other racing game is doing this. forza horizon and crew are fun but those are "festival racers".

I fell in love with Need for Speed 6 Hot Pursuit 2 because it was the closest I was ever going to get to driving supercars down some of the most beautiful roads (something that I would experience again in Hot Pursuit 2010). Underground 1 and 2 showed me that you didn't need an expensive supercar to go fast and that it's more enjoyable and fulfilling to build a car and customise it than to just buy one. Prostreet felt like what Underground 2's URL races tried to be: legalised street racing and drifting. That game had a vibe that just hasn't been recreated in any other racing game. This series is the main reason why I like cars and racing. I don't want to see it go but I do think it deserves a break after 30 long years.

It's also ahead of Battlefield in total sales with 150,000,000 since the first game versus Battlefield having a little over half at 88,700,000. From what I can tell, only FIFA (which just got ripped away from Electronic Arts) and The Sims have outsold it in their portfolio. Battlefield actually comes in sixth place, being beaten out by Madden and Apex Legends.

@@prodigy84bgit’s bad. Last NFS that had the best physics was 2015, might even argue payback. I played unbound on release and the tier setup system is obnoxious. But as soon as you hit max even with engine swaps unless you’re a purist like me and want to keep the RB26 DETT in your R32 Skyline GT-R then the koneiseggs are going to be a pain in the ass for you. They even said they nerfed their speed limit but shit I didn’t see it. NOT ONE CAR CAN DO 270 other than the Bugatti Chiron. NOT ONE. And even that is unrealistic when you consider the fact that most people who do engine swaps when you boost your car with race parts YOU CAN go that fast. Even if it’s 750 horsepower or BHP or 1,000. It’s ridiculous. If you’re not into any of the tier class racing and drift to turn handling just stay with the later titles from the past. Meaning payback or 2015. Heat had the same handling drift to win. If you chose grip you were always punished. When in reality if you had an AWD/4WD car you can theoretically make corners faster than a front wheel drive or rear wheel drive.

Theo, that last few seconds actually made me tear up a little. That reaction is something genuine, for one person who truly immerses themselves in a game world. Be it racing, RPG, MMO, VR or anything else. I can only imagine how hurt you and many of us feel about hearing news like this... Racing games in general are nowhere near as popular as they used to be, and it's not because of handling, physics, story or characters. I feel like the gameplay loop in these games are very barren. The Crew Motorfest is The Summit, Demolition Derby and Grand Races, that's it. Need for Speed Unbound has Lockdown, and some PvP playlists, that's it. Forza has the Festival Playlist, that's it. Sim Racing is Sim Racing, so GT7, iRacing, Assetto Corsa all have the same loop, which caters for an entirely different audience. I don't think Arcade Racing Games have enough reward for playing the game anymore, which needs to change. Especially for solo players. We need gameplay that caters for solo and group players, that also feel great and fun to play. Think NFS Most Wanted 2012. Game wasn't great, but the ideas and methods used in Multiplayer made it 100 times more replayable than almost every Need For Speed that came afterwards. The Crew 1 had PvP focused races, and tiers/ranks that gave you more rewards the higher you rank (plus it's always a flex to show off your rank). NFS Unbound's Lockdown mode is a great show for the future. If they can integrate Cops and Racers into freeroam similar to what NFS Rivals had, I think that'll change everything. Give us Risk/Reward. Merge Single Player and Online. Make use of impounds. Force the use of different cars again. Bring back "Everyday Cars Only, Muscle Cars Only, Pickup Trucks Only, Supercars Only." Take elements that made the old games that made them fun, and change them up to fit in to the new games. And please... PLEASE... Give us better music...

I wish they would bring back the cinematics of NFS The Run because that game with the interactive cutscenes still holds up today, but Criterion could make second one after 15 years now and remake of some of the older titles I could safety say where back at that point if they could make it happen. A remastered Burnout 3 takedown is well overdue. Hopefully, Codemasters Cheshire can make it happen in the future.

EA has been consistently mishandling all of their IPs for so long and its so frustrating to see how they have good games on their hands, and then decide to get greedy. They killed Star Wars Battlefront with micro transactions, they almost killed NFS with Payback's lootboxes, Titanfall is dead because they saw they could make more money with a BR (and now their BR is dying). I wish Criteron, Slightly Mad Studios and Codemasters could go independent or be sold to a better company because EA will only continue to mishandle them to make more money on games that will fail out the door

NFS is probably my favorite overall racing game series because they do it differently. They give love to multiple aspects of car racing. NFS Shift might not have been everyones favorite, but they showed how gritty and dangerous GT racing is. NFS Nitro gave a fun and weird twist on racing. NFS Hot Pursuit is just straight up a fun Cops and Robbers game, and NFS Unbound i feel like is the best street scene racing game with themes of making money and having stupidly modified cars, graffiti everywhere, anime inspirations everywhere. If only EA would put the greed behind them and look at the perfect series that they have in their hands

Racing games are just kind of dying and not evolving to the current meta gaming. I love a good single story game but unfortunately most people want constant content and a battle pass or multiplayer on everything they touch. They don’t make much off a game with limited sales that costs a lot of money to make especially having to partner with car brands. The car scene is kind of dead as well. All the franchises and good car games and companies weve had that are now only few straggling along before they are obsolete too.

I just hope once Battlefield does get wrapped up, they'll go FULL FOCUS within ALL THEIR STUDIOS to make Need for Speed comeback too, changing everybit towards what us, all players of NFS (since the old days, till the Underground/MW/Carbon era, and the recent ones) been asking for. To make real competition against Forza, The Crew and other Racing Games. Hopefully that will be reachable. 🙏

EA did the same thing with the Command & Conquer series. They literally invented the Real Time Strategy genre and were selling extremely well, then started cutting people and then wondered why their last game didn't do well and cut the whole series.

First Star Wars battlefront 2 when it was on its redemption arc (more or less depending who you ask) and now need for speed when the updates from them are actually good. And the kicker, both got support moved away from both games for their Battlefield franchise. For whatever reason I’m starting to develop a genuine hatred for battlefield. NFS cannot be replaced and EA needs to get their priorities in check. Sidelining one does not guarantee the others success. As you said, I too hope battlefield is mid (ish) and they turn their attention towards NFS, keeping the original team because credits where due, they've been awesome.

6:15 NFS Rivals.. and that' s the reason I love this game so much.. destroying cars.. police chases.. High jumps.. destroy buildings to long jumps and much more freedom I love about this game.. and still you can't even bore.. I've seen the Rivals community grind into this game multiplayer and solo... So much fun NFS Rivals🍻

I'm with you. Rivals is still my best NFS till date. Multiplayer was good. Solo racing had tons of replayability.

I got fun in Rivals on my PS3 when i was a kid. But it missed alot of cars and there were no tuning. So sad. Nfs 2015 was better.

I love and grew up on playing both games. And it's not like NFS is some random low-end gaming ip. Big ass gaming company should have the resources to not completely abandon one for the other. And throwing a bunch of people at the problem isnt necessary to fix battlefield ans its problems. Do better.

Yep as a car audio guy I wish NFS can add stereo system customization back because I want to put a Kenwood excelon head unit and 4 Rockford Fosgate Punch 12s in a Iroc Z. Underground 2 just was fun because it let car audio guys bulid their dream set ups with underglow.

Actually the Vol 9 Was a REALLY GOOD Update , it makes the unbound best nfs of decade and they Could Expand the map , Bringing new Cars to lock down and and updating music playlist and some bug fixes to make the best nfs after UG2 - MW2005 but as always they choose Wrong way .

Don't get why people are still so upset about Battlefront being dead again. Dice had 2 chances at it and put out 2 bad games, they also put out 2 bad battlefield games in that same timeframe. Why would a 3rd Battlefront game be any different.

@ nfs 2015 imo cheated making the map dark with some rain effects there is a video on this by the way its smart but cheesy also unbound is very realistic and before you say the Anime Effects you can turn it off and I mean all of it But still doesn't deny the fact that you'll fit perfectly in lakeshore like your pfp is an actual sticker in the game lol

Fine.. some KZbinrs did mods to make the game at day and it looked better than most of current NFS games I rather have a small map with nice graphics than a huge map with 0 graphics and unrealistic content

What I truly don’t understand is with all the game developers out there why can’t they just hire more game developers to make another need for speed at the same time that they’re making battlefield? You put the real need for speed teams on need for speed and then hire people who can do the job just as good if not better. And then you take elements of what the players want and implement that into the game. You know how many jobs EA could create by not focusing on one game at a time what a waste.
