I would love to see another tutorial showing how those original sci fi covers from the 70s were created. The absolute perfection, attention to detail and breathtaking real life quality was almost magical. Those sci fi book covers in the 70s were just so life like, probably done with airbrushes, rather than brushes as in this tutorial, and were probably the main reason for alot of sci fi book sales.

Fantastic to see a master making it look so easy. Foss is the father of modern science fiction art whom today’s concept and game artists owe so much. Brilliant!

Love the idea of these videos. Would like to hear more of Chris' thought-process as he creates these works of art. You can never have enough commentary on an artist's technique, choice of colour etc.

Hello Chris foss sir! I just saw jodorowskys dune yesterday and I have fallen in love with your work. It is very refreshing to see art like this especially in the standpoint of an engineering student (going to college finished school!). Thanks sir!!

I have your art book that you show in your intro video. Bought it in the 70's when I was a teenager. I had finished reading "Dune" and was teaching myself airbrushing. When I leafed through the pages in the store I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. I would thereafter pore over those pages examining every inch of each painting. And now, to find this channel a few weeks ago after so many years... Well, all I can say to your question is hell, yes, I want to see more videos like this.

Your art is one of the greatest inspirations for me to become a sci-fi comic artist. Back in the 80s I had a book about "The making of Alien" and it had all those great concepts for spaceships that sadly didn't make it to the movie, but they were awesome. It made me draw spaceships ever since.

I used to like drawing spaceships and futuristic cities when I was a teenager, but now i'm not that much interested anymore, however sometimes I like to do them in programs like 3D max or Maya, it's much quicker less messy and easier.

I want to go to CHRIS FOSS WORLD...where it's a darkened NYC museum with ships flying around in the space-like the ships you draw and paint here. Worlds, habitats, etc. I wanna go there.

Guys like Chris Foss are what is missing in modern sci-fi. There are no more memorable spaceship designs or visual worldbuilding. It's OK to focus on characters and acting, but science fiction by virtue of its visuals gives you an extra something that you can't get in any other genre. And those visuals can be just as important. Been a fan of Chris Foss and his contemporaries since the Terran Trade Authority.
