Yeah, that was something that struck me as off for this episode. Most of the vocational schools I've seen, you've still got to go to high school, or they teach you high school courses there. They generally have grade requirements, can require years of training, and will give you a set of skills that can be very valuable in the workforce. I also don't get the Italian stereotype at all, if anything the place were I went was 75% Hispanic. It's just adding to the stigma around vocational schools, even suggesting that vocational school is somehow "worse" than high school. In reality, it's sometimes better than college, since so many people are going into college because "it's the only way to be successful." They are going thousands of dollars in debt to enter an oversaturated workforce, meanwhile I went to a state-funded course that cost me nothing, and am now better paid. The only major difference I see is that college requires your family to have tons of money to pay for it. It's not smart vs. dumb, it's rich vs. poor.

4:15 : when I was a kid, we spent a few weeks in Italy with my dad, and became friends with a lifeguard at the local beach. Everyday, at 12:00 (precisely), he warned the people on the beach. < Midday ! TIME FOR LUNCH ! > and everyone, Italians and foreigners get off from the beach to have lunch.

This episode is one of the reasons why I hate the Status Quo factor, I liked the fact that Chris was actually doing ok for himself, but due to the status quo the show has he has to go back to high school and the vocational school is pretty much never forgotten again
