We used to have an air mattress, it was one of those “nice” ones that was up high with an automatic motor inflator and it had a hole in it, we had duct taped it, but it didn’t last thru the night, you’d have to wake up and turn it on to fill up but if you slept too long it would deflate so we called it “the taco” bc when you woke up you’d be trapped in the center. My husband or I would come in and say OH NO YOU’VE BEEN TACO’D the first thing we bought when we could afford it was a proper bed and man, you never appreciate a bed more than after you’ve not had one for months/years

that's one of those things that comes out of left field as we age. I suspect it's on the list of experiences that are reserved for those of us in a fairly narrow income bracket. high enough to even entertain thoughts of "brand new" furniture, not yet high enough to push "2nd hand/used" thoughts out. At the top they pay other people to have those thoughts.

@@refuse2Btools it’s definitely a specific group of people, I’ve always been certain that most people getting 100k jobs right out of college, especially around my age and younger, have no clue how how to manage their money. Having money doesn’t mean you’re smart about money per se. I think people who are truly good with money are the ones who are out here living on a household income under 50k, scheming every single purchase, proactively planning out these elaborate Venn diagrams of when sales and coupons and income all overlap. That and finding cheaper better used stuff on fb marketplace before buying lamer new items for more $, or certified refurbished stuff, it’s a constant grind. Almost every single purchase has to be justified, considered and calculated. I used to get free craigslist items and fix them up and sell them when I was broke!
