In this episode we take some time with our friend Chris Jacobs' 1968 Plymouth GTX. You know Chris from Overhaulin', Long Lost Family, NFL Network or Barrett Jackson Auctions. Chris is a car guy and a die hard Mopar guy. He owns a '68 GTX that was painted by Chip Foose and has Foose wheels. His GTX caught fire about 2 years ago so he called on Mark Worman and Graveyard Cars to bring it back to life with a 392 Hemi crate motor. The car was unveiled at SEMA 2017 and will be auctioned off at Barrett Jackson January 2019 and all proceeds will go to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Chris is a friend and a client and all around great guy. It was a blast taking his car out for a drive and walking through some of the details.

From one car guy to another, you nailed it. The paint combination is fantastic, just enough of a touch on the side graphics to make it pop, yet it looks like something you can drive everyday. This is a gorgeous classic in every sense of the word, and that it's going to be auctioned off for such an amazing cause, shows you what kind of man Chris is. 😎

Another good video AutotopiaLA! Say, about the Foose wheels on Chris' car. I'm the guy from Canada who originally designed those vee edge spoked wheels. They were just some of the many wheels that were given to Boyd Coddington a number of years ago. Actually, if you were to see many of my original drawings, there are a number of car and motorcycle wheel designs out there that were used for templates and given to other people that I never got paid for. Thanks, and keep the videos coming. Later !

Very nice. Wish I could afford all those famous folks on my '68 GTX, but I'm proud of it anyways. A couple of picky corrections here - there was no 440 6V in 1968 from the factory, of course, and the hood inserts are actually off a '69. I'd have liked to see him stick with a more original 440 but that's just personal preference. Sweet car nonetheless.

I think he went this direction because of tv and the simplicity of sourcing new parts. And thanks for the correction. Always trying to learn.

I like how this car is perfect without being perfect. I actually sometimes prefer the "old school" builds, close to the original, with the original interior, original dash gauges and all that, it just transfers you back in time, a cool!

I remember the gyc episode where Chris's GTX was featured, that's really cool and an awesome build. I like it that you feature a lot of Chrysler products on here and will tell my Mopar buddies about this channel. Overhauling was a great show and is to bad that they no longer make them, although I think that they were on for about 12 years and probably pretty burned out. Chris is also a Mopar guy and has some beautiful machines, like the GTX for example. Foose is a super nice guy as well and seems to be really calm cool and collected, he sure does some awesome builds as well and is a great artist. Do you know if it's going to be at the Scottsdale auction Sean?, we will be going to that again this year and is not far from where we are located here in AZ. It would be fun to see it get auctioned off and Chris will probably be there this year as usually is and would be cool to meet him if possible. It's super commendable that he is giving it to a foundation for our troops families and is really awesome, you got to love that 🇺🇸

AutotopiaLA yeah I know that he is a huge Mopar guy as well and like me I'm sure that he probably likes all of that cool old Detroit iron, but as far as owning them it's Mopar or no car for me. I'm guessing that he does not own a Ford or GM product either but still likes it all as well. I will have to look for his car and find out what day he'll be there. BTW you're welcome and love the channel, especially when you showcase the Mopars

I will never understand going to the trouble of getting a body really straight and then painting some thing like a yuppie grey!!! UGH! I know, everyone is supposed to think new school is too cool for words... But you want a big bad Mopar with a grey or some other yuppie "subtle" color? And if you want to swap an engine? Why in the world don't you simply put in a Hemi and set the engine back like 15 plus inches? Then you have the beans to deal with GM Big Blocks and any rice grinders out there.. THAT'S the real Mopar idea/sprit!!!!
@AutotopiaLA
@AutotopiaLA 6 жыл бұрын
This car was painted by Chip Foose a number of years ago so a lot of the choices are dated at this point. They did put a modern 392 Hemi in it but didn't push it back 15 inches. The guys at Graveyard Cars did the engine swap for the owner Chris Jacobs and Chris is planning on auctioning the car at Barrett-Jackson to benefit a charity he believes in. You have a lot of strong thoughts and opinions about builds which makes me curious what do you drive? Do you build cars? And please feel free to give feedback and opinions on any and all the cars we show here. I love to hear peoples point of view.
