Sometimes the simplest things gets over in a big way. Less is more. Teasing spots ALWAYS gets the crowd into a match. You can do it with weapons, finishing moves, ladder matches, table matches, the list is truly endless.

Thats why i absolutely hate aew its all a spot fest. I can't enjoy most modern wrestling because its sooo corny and just makes no sense. the punches the kicks the wristlocks are just sooo bad. Go back watch a bret hart match or curt henning. The difference is night and day. Eddie vs. Benoit. Angle vs rvd. Its really sad how far the bar has fallen.

Chris, it's not about taking your head out of your butt. You are one of the best and have been. You don't need to change with the times. It's ok for wrestling to evolve if it makes it better. The reality is it's gotten worse and the fact that so many people have stopped watching confirms it. Orange Cassady is corny and so what if he's over with the 10% indie crowd.

I saw Orange Cassidy at an indie show a few years ago. The crowd was red hot, until Orange forgot to kick out of a pin a minute into his match with Chuck Taylor and the crowd died. They just restarted the match, did some comedy mat wrestling that got no reaction, and the crowd stayed dead for the rest of the show.

For me, I don't have a problem with the occasional comedy or non-wrestling spot. It's always been a thing. My problem is that has become the entire show. Everyone is a comedy act or a spot machine. It cheapens it for me. There's very little storytelling that goes on in modern wrestling. Yes, some guys are over right now...because they are what is entertaining to watch in what is being presented. But when you get actual good solid *logical* booking, it blows people away. People get invested in personas and stories like they always have. Also, not every guy on the card needs to do every spot there is to do. And, yes. I'm old.

I’m not a huge fan of a lot of indy stuff, but the over the top negativity is so annoying. It’s not the fact that people don’t like it, it’s that they pretend like they’ve never popped for something really really stupid. Collision has been such a breath of fresh air for aew. They put more focus on storylines more. The thing with dynamite is they feature talents that no one really cares about. We want to see guys like wardlow, swerve, keith lee ethan page and all get spotlight on dynamite, but they feature guys like ar fox. No disrespect to orange Cassidy, but his run as the international title is really dragging at this point. He honestly should have dropped the title to swerve last month

I tried to get into the business years ago and have seen it evolve over the years. (I have a different look being Chinese, Japanese and Hawaiian) UPW (Cena/Prototype) accepted me but the 9-11 tragedy stopped the move in 2001. Had a match with Yuji Nagata and another with Dragon Gate. Did a Chikara event with Generico, Fire Ant and others. Teddy Hart moonsaulted on my head. My FCW tryout was with AJ Lee and Adam Rose. I had a smackdown tryout where I helped a run in with Matt Hardy. It was a short run but my regrets are not getting to meet and learn from greats like Chris Jericho.

Personally I think modern wrestling kinda sucks. Sure there are some good things, The Bloodline, Rhea/Dom, FTR, MJF etc., but the vast majority of stuff is tough to watch.

Yeah Santino Marella was over too. Theres been a lot of comedy acts and smaller guys that were over like crazy. That doesnt mean you make them a nearly year long champion in your company where they go out and win week after week. Im all for suspending disbelief in wrestling. If I can believe an undead guy who shoots fire and lightning can be buried alive by his burned but not really burned brother who can also shoot fire and lightning, i can believe just about anything. But i roll my eyes when OC does the shin taps and the other guy stands there and lets him do it. Why dont you just clothesline the shit out of him? At the end of the day, regardless of gimmicks, isnt the point of a match to win? So why let him do that to you while standing there? And on top of that, when you have a guy like Matt Hardy whos been a wrestler for 20 years, been everywhere seen everything, to come out and claim that Orange Cassidy, a 5 and a half foot, 170 pounds soaking wet guy with a gimmick where he puts his hands in his pockets, and Hardy compares him to the Undertaker???? Hell yeah it's better. WWE's been a monopoly house of wrestling in US. That's why even when wrestlers got over like Bryan or CM Punk they pushed super Cena down fans throats for a decade. Look at Cody. Been a mid card joke jobber on WWE for years. Left and worked on indies for a few years. Worked at NJPW and ROH a few years as an upper midcarder. It's only after AEW reworked him with MJF lashing his back that Vince McMahon flew to Cody personally and offered him a contract. Now he pops up and is beating Seth Rollins(2nd chosen 1 of current day) and Brock Lesnar(chosen 1 of Cena era) and winning Royal Rumbles to mainevent Wrestlemanias. In a world where "modern(aew) wrestling" didn't exist,would Cody be beating Brock Lesnar? Never ever. AEW modern pro wrestling despite it's issues has offered fans a good alternative to Vince and his messiah complex wrestler

So, everything Jericho just said, is wrong. There's a reason NOBODY is watching this 'new' crap. It's because it sucks. They're 'over' with a few marks that don't know what wrestling is. Since going to aew, Jericho has lost his edge. Sad to see. But the ratings prove cassidy ain't over as they fall whenever he's on screen, and they're not doing great for Jericho either. Wrestling needs to go back to its roots cos the modern shit ain't working.
