I AM ATHLETE | Season 3: Episode 24
Former NFL running back Chris Johnson joins "I AM ATHLETE" with Brandon Marshall, Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson and Omar Kelly. Chris opens up about embracing his culture while in the NFL, his historic 2000+ yard season and the drive-by shooting that nearly ended his career in 2015.
Chris walks us through the moments leading up to the drive-by shooting that left he and a friend wounded and another dead. After the shooting Chris experienced nerve issues in his hand and struggled with effective rehab solutions. Because of this he feared his injury would lead to the end of his career but ultimately he got the care he needed to recover and continue his NFL career.

Yeah. That's how it was when I firstt saw him on game Sunday running back a TD one end to the other. And the game he was approaching all them records. The announcers were waiting on it every play the closer he got. I thought he look cool with his golds too, but he was totally serious and professional. In my head it made me think the NFL wasn't prejudice or stuff like that to let a guy play and air him primetime.

I thought it took awhile before you guys got into the interview. Once you got into the interview with Chris Johnson, he was a very thoughtful and interesting individual. What moved me was when he said the team knew he had a torn meniscus but did not want to compensate him on his new contract. He slept in a device all season, so he would be available for the team but you still don’t want to pay the man. Shameful. I am glad you guys continue to tell these stories. Love the Coffee! Great statement Brandon made about not falling in love with teams but dealing with the business first. Love the fact that Chris went back to school and earned his degree. Now a business owner in Love the Coffee. Much success to Chris. He is really cool smart guy I salute you King💪🏿👏🏿🙏🏿🙌🏽.

Oilers/Titans Fan: I remember when we drafted him. 2nd (or 3rd) preseason game (against the Rams) when he took a hand-off to the house for 60+ yards. Titans KNEW they had something special! And HE WAS!! He carried us for years! Very professional and mature. Always showed up. Should have broke the rushing record (in Seattle), but the stupid ref called a bogus holding call (go back and look, it was BOGUS). Still got his 2k yards. Glad he transitioned. Happy to see this. Thanks for the memories Mr. Johnson! Oilers/Titans Best set of backs in NFL History 1. Earl Campbell 2. Eddie George 3. Chris Johnson 4. Derrick Henry

as a colts fan titans sure had some good running backs. CJ2K was a beast in those 5-6 years it was him and adrian peterson as the 2 best running backs those years.

I'm from Nashville and I remember seeing CJ all the time at Bailey and Cato's on the east side. I can say he was a cool dude, because he was very approachable. We've been lucky to have some great backs in Tennessee! Eddie, CJ, and King Henry. We just can't find a QB like Air McNair

@@jakjones8680 honestly I think it may be a little racism with drafting black quarterbacks now in Nashville. One hasnt been picked up since Vince. Idk whats going on with that front office. Its been plenty of McNair-Esque qb’s since and we’ve passed on to pick up another position. Its time to draft a black quarterback. Past time really. Jack locker wasnt it. Mariota didnt have the line to protect him to be as great as he couldve been, Tannehill is solid but he ain’t franchise. Kerry collins was solid, but Aint nobody been McNair since. Vince showed some but wasn’t consistent.
