I just love Chris. I bet todays "country singers" couldn't have spent a minute in his boots. Most underrated singer ever in my opinion.

i have been listing to this man for a long time, 1990 i was a cowboy in the hill country in Texas. love Chris he was a cowboys poet he will be missed.

The imagery in all of Chris LeDoux’s songs is fantastic, but this one is extra special. It feels like I’m there. I can almost “smell the sulfur” and “feel the Longhorns brush against me”. Love the ending!

Yeah. I remember back in the 90s, there was something written by a music citic talking about how Chris's songs can really make you feel like he IS the character who's singing. And with him having been a rodeo rider, he had much authenticity with such songs. It's rare, but not impossible to find similarly real feeling artists nowadays. Every so often, there's a resurgence of that type of music. It will never die out fully.

This song is so sad. It has it's own excitement, too. It has, sometimes, made me cry. It reminds me of a favorite song of mine.

Not all of Chris's songs are upbeat in overall tone. But that's life and Chris very much sung about life. He's got many that are feel good songs, too. He's the guy who a lot of artists wanted (and still do want) to be. He brought an authenticity to his music that someone who's had a more posh life can't do.

Bought my first Chris tape from him sitting around listening to Chris play sitting on the tail gate after a Rodeo many years ago. Bout every cassette he put out, and it always takes me back to that rodeo, that night just Him and his guitar and a bunch of cowboys.

I fell in love with this song as a kid, and for years I just couldn't find it as it was on a compilation cd owned by someone else.... Right now, today I found it again... and MAN! Does it still KICK ASS without any favors!

As a guy who has worked the job... old Chris is probably the only one who can make me say yep that mans a real cowboy! Kind of like putting together an authentic song... sometimes it's not the chords or the melody... sometimes it's the tone!
