Completely agree. It's an objective truth too... just go to a game. The fans couldn't care less about the game. I went to a flyers game a few weeks ago for the first time in a few years, it was absolutely pathetic. They weren't even showing repays on the board. too busy smashing cake in people's faces or kiss cam. It was hard to swallow.

How completely insane is it that Nolan had to go through the Bruins bench to get to the room. Oh how I love everything about this NHL, which is in unrecognizable from Bettman’s NHL of today.

Knuckles Nilan, an intimate part of the Canadians's hockey team in the 80's. What a competitor! Seeing him casually strolling around the old Boston Garden rink amidst mayhem is priceless. BTW Ken « the rat » Linseman: that was the first time I saw a rodent wearing glasses.

My all-time favorite picture of NHL play isn't the bobby Orr mid-air goal celebration, not the '72 goal, Not the ear-to ear grin on Messier's face as he's about to lift the cup for NYR, but a picture of Chris Nilan, sitting on the ice in front of the net, holding a Minnesota North Star player in a headlock while looking up at the ref with the expression "what?".

I was 10 yold when I begin to watch my first hockey game. I remember this one :) Old time good hockey. Yesterday the habs won 6 to 1 against Boston. No fights, boring games, where is the old rivalries. At 31yold, only the playoff are good right now to follow the NHL. I dont care about this violence, it was entertaiment and just listen the crowd. It was great, Nilan was a great one like Jay Miller, Lyndon Byers, Dave Brown, well great warrior :) Bring back this old hockey game !

i worked at the cask n flagon on huntington avenue and saw the sick predator that nilan was in real life, too. he would walk up behind guys and size them up, deciding who to sucker. these guys would be minding their own business. one night i watched him and his weasel sidekick dave wilkens pick on this skinny 130 lb guy i knew, who was a real karate man. i followed them out onto huntington ave and the karate man kicked both of their asses, rapping wilken's head off a steel grate. he got a massive lifetime scar for that one. nilan got beat up by the 130 lb wimp he and shaky hand picked for a whuppin.

Never felt scared at a game until the night in the Aud (and can I have an Amen for the great old barns they played in?)they went at it at the opening faceoff, culminating with fans running down to the Bruins bench glass and tossing beer and such. as the saying went, if this stuff keeps up they'll have to print more tickets...😉
