Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I'd love to remake Metriod at some point. It's on the list! This stuff is definitely a lot of work, but its worth it. Being able to make that realistic nostalgic game that you always imagined is incredibly satisfying.

The atmosphere and emotion reminds me of unreavel. As unreavel plays with the emotion of sadness through memories, this Mario-remake plays with similar emotions, as we see the 1985 hidden 3D surrounding, that finally is revealed after nearly 40 years and the sad music underlines the feeling of a kind of amazed realization, how many beauty we haven't been able to perceive, as it was in the hidden 3rd dimension to us the last 40 years. It's like a feeling of "how could i be so blind? It has been among us all the time, so we have to travel back in time"...

Here are the small issues that I have as a lifelong super Mario Bros fan that played the game when it first came out. One of the things that the cartoons did so well was to convey the scale of the world that they were in. Also they did not confine Mario and Luigi to a linear path. The linear path from the game is intended to convey the entirety of the world with only two dimensional capability. The path that Mario takes in the game is supposed to represent what he encounters along his journey through the world in 3 dimensions. In other words it's supposed to represent Mario going to the world in its entirety without being set to one linear path. Also we need to remember that each world has a castle that Mario enters and that there are things inside this Castle even though it's smaller. Each Koopa Castle in every 4th world is supposed to be cavernous and enormous in scale. Not unlike the castle conveyed in Dracula. The path that Mario takes in the game is only a portion of the castle in question. All this being said the work is magnificent and captures the essence of the game and the worlds that have been covered. If the issues I mentioned were addressed it would be absolutely breathtaking.

Strange choice to have the bridge being destroyed in 2-3. I thought you were gonna just have them coming from the left and right and jumping over the bridge at different heights, he'd just be running fast and avoiding them. I could barely see it at the end but is koopa there with jack black's face 😆. This was pretty cool overall, well done.
