This is a great song where Su really shines with her power and presence. Akatsuki has two versions, this one, and a ballad version with just Su and the piano called Akatsuki (Unfinished Ver.). It was a one-off performance at the Legend 1997 concert, and although it has the same lyrics, it's a completely different song, and performed exquisitely - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKjWmqGjrbmrmNE It also has English subs on it so you can get the gist of the song.

Seconding this recommendation - that performance of Akatsuki is different enough to warrant a separate reaction. It came right after the performance of Headbanger you reacted to, in fact, and was followed by a special performance of their old opener Babymetal Death to close that show: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHaWZaCIpc5ph80 . I think watching Akatsuki Unfinished followed by Babymetal Death would make for an excellent reaction!

Good reaction. DragonForce had nothing to do with this one - Herman Li and Sam Totman wrote the guitar arrangements for 'Road of Resistance' and played on the studio version, but that is the only BABYMETAL song they've had any involvement in.

Black Night was the title of the concert. It was the second night of their Budokan shows in 2014. The first night was called Red Night. The Nippon Budokan is a legendary venue in Tokyo's Chiyoda ward, were you can allegedly only perform if you get an invite. It's a martial arts arena that was originally built for the Judo competitions in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. It's still used for a lot of martial arts competitions and professional wrestling, but it's probably best known these days for their music concerts. BABYMETAL plans to do a 10 concert series in the Budokan this year, starting from Jan 19th and 20th, but we'll see if these dates hold up. Many bands cancel all their January and February concerts the last days, especially in Tokyo.

First two shows of the 10 now complete and damn if not epic staging for such a small venue. Budokan is indeed a very special condert venue as it marries a venue used for music, a judo venue and used for ceremonials. It is also rather unique in being a circular arena with staging a 360 degree haxagon basically. This is why the stage rotates alot so the girls can face all the crowd at some point.
@ANDOR-

@@paulbenwell3560 You can definitely say that again. Saw a comment on Twitter I think which said the stage on that one photo from day one looked like a giant birthday cake. It takes a lot of imagination, but I can see where they were coming from. And I agree with what you said about the Budokan, but I'm not a big fan of the venue when it comes to acts like BABYMETAL or even Band-Maid, who cancelled their Budokan show set for early February. It's like a musical temple and it's all seating, so it's always a bit hard to get a lot of crowd interaction going. I'm really curious about the 10 Budokan shows though, I hope they'll release them in a 5 DVD/Bluray set or something some time in the future (probably one night of every 2 set show because apparently the setlist was the same on both days). But please for an affordable price... I can dream, right? ;)

You mentioned the pink guitar. It has a name (yes really) and is called Pink-chan. It belongs to Takayoshi Ohmura who has his own custom range of guitars (SNPPER - 7 Ohmura Custom of Twinkle Pink which is the seven string specification of ESP SNAPPER Ohmura Custom used by Takayoshi Ohmura).

Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Your pronunciation of the title is perfect. This was filmed in 2014 at Budokan (武道館), a legendary arena. So, "Black Night" is not the name of the venue but of the 2nd show of two consecutive shows. (1st show was "Red Night"). BABYMETAL is going to hold concerts at the same venue (武道館) this month and in February. I could manage to get tickets for them. I am keeping my fingers crossed for COVID19 situation NOT getting worse. If the 1st concert on Jan.19 is held as scheduled, I am ready to willingly accept jealousy from the world.

It's worth noting that No Rain No Rainbow has been getting blocked a lot lately, unfortunately. If you do that one, Chris, you could try putting a semi-transparent logo over the vid in your reaction, and that might evade the bots, but that's no guarantee it won't get manually blocked later. It's a great performance though, so I hope you consider some alternative methods of doing a reaction to it, whether that be link & sync/reactorhub or hosting elsewhere and putting a placeholder vid (or YT-safe reaction) here. There are so many amazing Babymetal performances that just get blocked on YT, unfortunately. If you're willing to put in a little extra effort to do the good stuff, I can help guide you through that. :)

Nice job with the pronunciation of Akatsuki. Not many people catch that she pronounces it for us that one time during the song. This song is easily top 3 for me. It's hard to decide between Ijime Dame Zettai, Akatsuki, and Shine. I love that guitar solo in this performance but it would be hard to capture that moment again unless the Kami band loses the masks they currently wear. Of course they can play just as well with the masks but it loses its charm if you can't see their facial expressions.

I'm not sure what songs you've heard but they do piano in songs. The one that comes to mind is 'Ijime Dame Zettai' I recommend live at Sonisphere it's an official live but it's safe to react to. But on second thought maybe 'Headbanger'live at Legend of 1997 is more what you're looking for. Another one would be Tales of the Destinies. In Ijime Dame Zettai the piano is only in the intro and in the bridge. I thought of it because I saw a video where a woman covered it on piano in a Tokyo government building :) Su said that Budokan was difficult because it was the first time they did a lot of things. You wouldn't know from watching. I assume what she is talking about is that they performed in more of a metal way and less like a pop group. But maybe she's taking about the rotating stage.
@rantingrodent416
@rantingrodent416 4 жыл бұрын
Babymetal songs use piano relatively often, though sometimes it's rather limited. You've listened to Headbanger, which uses a relatively small piano part to great effect. Tales of the Destinies is on the other end of the spectrum with an extended piano solo on the outro (you should do an audio-only reaction to that one soon) It's common enough that a number of people seem to think the Kamiband should add a member on synths, but they wouldn't have enough to do for *every* song, I think. They do actually play a lot of shows on traditional stages, especially when touring internationally, but most of what you'll see on KZbin is from their big stadium shows just because the audio and video quality is consistently better. Also some time ago, Amuse apparently instigated a massive purge of fancams from KZbin, so there's not a lot left to watch. For a good example of what they're like in that kind of environment, you could react to this surprisingly good fan cam of "BxMxC" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJuxeXSQdqaEq8k

⚡ / 🔴 🌙 "Going over thousands (of) nights, some love shall survive. So, until my body perishes, until my life disappears, I shall keep on cherishing this love. Dye crimson! Dye bloody crimson!" - Akatsuki That guitar is an ESP Snapper 7 Ohmura Custom in twinkle pink. Guitarists that night were Takayoshi Ohmura (that's one of his signature guitars) and Leda Cygnus. We had BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. That was a sixteen-year-old Su-metal. Su's voice has only gotten better in the last seven years.

You mentioned that you love the drum pace here, then I'm sure you'll love Amore. It's also a Su's solo and it showcases the whole band in the song itself (not just in the intro unlike the RoN video). It has insane drum work, a quick and sweet bass solo, and a fascinating dual guitar solo. I'm sure you'll love it. Keep the babymetal videos coming! Kitsunes up!

As to their regular musical elements or additives; piano and strings. The vocalist SU-METAL is not a growl singer but a soprano kind, which is more often adopted by symphonic metal or metal ballads. Babymetal respects X-Japan, whose drummer Yoshiki loves piano and often plays it on their live stage and this song is a tribute to his band.

Great reaction I’d say to do no rain no rainbow Legend S every metal band needs a power ballad, it has orchestral backing and piano playing,. The reason to go for the legend S version you can see and hear she puts all emotion into it. Not saying the others are bad, they are great but that one queen Su will take your soul.

Great Reaction again. Thanks for keeping on the Babymetal Journey. If you like piano, I might suggest Tale of the Destinies + The One as a box set. Tale of the Destinies is very progressive and is paired with The One so don't do one without the other. And yes there are Several songs with piano in it, but the production is sooo good you don't even know its there.

Great reaction, thanks! Actually you summarized all the things I just love from this one which make it my favorite song (probably all time): crazy guitar solos, powerful drumming and the bass... sometimes we tend to forget the bass but it's so important! And yes, commanding and on top of all that power metal the incredibly powerful and clear vocals of SU-METAL. They use the piano backing tracks on many songs, also a string quarter on "No Rain no Rainbow" (Legend S performance) which is another of Su's solos. Another one with a piano track will be this one: "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014): kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKCQkJaYm8mlj6c So glad you enjoyed this one! Until next time!

if you don't know X-Japan you should listen, they're like gods and super famous in the J-Metal scene and far beyond that also. Well this song is heavily inspired on X-Japan songs (i think is Kurenai, the one who is similar sound alike). Also Headbangeeer! MV and all the neck brace stuff back then it was a tribute to Yoshiki (the drummer, pianist, songwritter and founder of that band) who seriously injured after headbanging so hard in a concert, he is well know to give it all at live concerts, he is like a living legend in Japan and he collaborates with many famous top notch artist around the world. Dragonforce collaborate only in Road of Resistence, also they don't use piano on their songs, X-Japan does ;) Check out No Rain No Rainbow for more piano parts, prepare some tissues thou haha Kitsune up! \m/
