I own a 21 insingo micarta inlay, a 21 drop point CGG, a 31 drop point CGG and an Incosi micarta inlay tanto. The Incosi is my edc. Love the Sebenzas, really do, but the Incosi with the tanto and inlays is just a real workhorse, and the blade recovers with a little touch up on a strop really quick.

I got an Inkosi last January and I just scored a Sebenza 31 in Natural Micarta with a milled clip on the secondary in excellent condition. Seller said he had it in a display case, still waiting for it and I'm excited. 👍

My opinion as a Sebenza owner, Great knife but completely lacks the fidget factor. Its a workhorse. Not a toy.

@R A fidgeting and playing are two different things. I agree if they are playing with it

Think of a good car door. Or solid wood bedroom doors vs hollow. Nothing to fidget with, but so darn satisfying!

I love the Sebenza. I agree with you on the thumb stud, but more so than the thumb stud I think their biggest issue is having literally the worst handle finish in the entire knife industry with the sandblast they use that scratches from just being in a pocket.
@MRSlapshot Жыл бұрын
I completely understand your gripe regarding the titanium finish, but completely disagree lol. Two reasons. 1: My Sebenza is a gift from my wife and an edc, so the scratches will eventually tell a story. 2: I absolutely love the sound the handles make when you run your fingers over them. It’s like it “does a thing”. Mine has micarta inlays but I had a friends plain with Damascus for a week and the feel of the handle scales surprised me. Makes me want to sandblast my Sprint run Endura Ti/Damascus lol!

I'm truly torn on which inlay I prefer, the 21 or 31...... really I just need a 31 to match my 21 so I can feel the difference.

I really disliked the 31 inlay until I realized it’s straight up Picasso! It’s uncanny!!

Are the cut outs in the washers to hold lubrication or to reduce friction on the blade? As well, wouldn’t they tend to hold grit and pocket lint?
@jojojaykay3 жыл бұрын
Friction isn’t a function of surface area, so a large contact patch would have the same friction as a small contact patch. CRK claims the pockets are indeed to hold lube such that the blade can pick it up as it moves over them. I found this NOT to be the case but still found them to be positive for two reasons: 1. It actually helps prevent OVER lubrication as the lube will drop into there. 2. Similarly, any debris that gets into the washers will actually eventually drop into the pockets and help prevent the debris from interfering with the action.
@hyssean123 жыл бұрын
@@jojojaykay what? Friction definitely increases as the surface area of contact increases.
@jojojaykay3 жыл бұрын
@@hyssean12 Nope, this is a common misconception. If you want to think of it mathematically, the equation is F=uN (Friction=u*Normal Force. u being the Latin symbol and constant for Coefficient of Friction), no variables for Surface area. One basic explanation given to me is that a smaller contact patch would increase the force per unit area, whereas a large contact patch would decrease the force per unit area. In this case, force would be the Normal force. Thus normal force wouldn't change as a function of area, which necessarily means neither will friction. You might find IRL that increasing the surface area between interfaced materials does make them slide past each other better or worse, but you would be using the incorrect reasoning (that being the larger contact surfaces increase friction) to arrive at the correct conclusion (that being they move past each other worse). It would be due to something else as a result of the change of area, not because friction had any change as a result of a change in area. edit: grammar

I thought the same. Until I realized that it’s straight up Picasso! There’s weird Picasso faces to be found all over the handle. It’s uncanny! I wonder if Mr. Reeve knows. If you dislike Picasso it’s gonna ruin the 31 inlay for you lol. I just showed my wife a comparison and she pointed out that I have a head cold. You be the judge :)

Chris Reeves = too expensive. I like you live in Canada and on blades Canada they are anywhere from 700 to 1000. I did just pick up the ZT462( which I really like ) and it was 400ish. I dont like frame locks enough to spend any more than that lol. Give me a compression lock any day of the week instead, I am loving my Shaman in rex45.
@Kevinclearysharpstuff3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I hate to be this way but I would never by any CRK in Canada or most other knives for that matter I always buy them used on the bladeforums crk sale forum my value assessment is based on US prices and for 450 or 500 I have no issue with the price and for around 400 secondary I really have no issue
@Kevinclearysharpstuff3 жыл бұрын
I should say to be fair I wouldn't be buying a ZT for 400 so maybe I'm just a cheapskate

It is though. Not on the plain 31 but it is under the inlay for some reason.

I've wanted to get a Chris Reeve folder either the 21, 31 or inkoski but in the event i have to send it to the mothership i don't want to have to deal with the Canadian border people's...... Which is why i stick to their fixed blades

Just got a Sebenza 31 large from an authorized dealer and it’s an utter disappointment! Screws backing out, horrible thumb stud, overcame lock stick after opening it 5K times but it’s still painful to open with one hand, lanyard getting cut by the knife when closed...ABSOLUTE GARBAGE considering I paid $580 for the micarta inlay one. Now I have to get rid of this piece of shit. FUCK CRK.
