I got the tanto. I look the functionally of it more for my day to day but holy cow that double harpoon on the drop point is so attractive.

Man out of all knives this is the hardest choice for me, blade shape on the Zaan... both so sick. Love the harpoon on the drop point and ability to choke up, but damn, the tanto on the Zaan with that hollow grind is the sexiest tanto IMO on any Chris Reeve knife and any other knife for that matter. Curious if Magnacut has more of a shine to it than S45VN or other steels. It's looking good!!

Got the tanto recently from DLT trading and it definitely grew on me. Both are great!

I got the tanto and I've carried it everyday since I got it. If I want a different blade shape I'll go Large Inkosi Insigno.

Had both! For the look i’d go tanto. But for esc uses the drop point is definitely the way to go!

They each have a distinctive difference that makes them both interesting in their own way since the drop point has the double harpoon and the tanto has the compound grind. I just bought a tanto version the other day and am waiting for it to come in. I'm looking forward to it.

@@floridaman727 I actually just bought and sold a large 31 box elder tanto magancut. Loved the knife, but knew I wouldn't use it. Bought it for $670, sold it for $640.

I get what you're saying but the tanto on this one isn't really difficult to sharpen compared to some other tantos I have.

@@metalminded16 yea, maybe I should specify that I'm mainly talking about the sharpening system I have, which is the Worksharp Precision Adjust. I've sharpened one tanto blade on that thing, and won't ever again. If I had a different system it would definitely be more tolerable

@@viis Honestly, stones are the way to go for compound grinds and tantos especially. It's not all that difficult. You can get angle guides to get the desired edge.

Tanto … i want a umnumzaan and a 31 sebenza but cant afford one yet

I like both but if I were saving up to get one, I would get the Umnumzaan. I like the Sebenza but the thumb studs on the Umnumzaan are far superior imo.
