It's that one guy who founded Home Free but then left to pursue his solo career but then founded 7th Ave and now we're not quite sure what he does: Chris Rupp! Though Chris is often left to carry the backing vocals whenever he's singing, he has proven over the years to have quite a spectacular vocal range, which I felt the need to display through this video. Enjoy! Shoutouts to The Range Place for providing much of the information used for this video!

You know a bass singer is incredible when they can sing higher than a baritone. (Tim's A5 - bass, Chris's G#5 - baritone)

Wait... this whole time I thought Tim just recorded himself twice whenever he had a solo... Chris was actually singing bass? They sound exactly the same down low!

Adam Letsch Tim actually does still sing bass in all of those instances (except All About That Bass for whatever reason). I'll probably do another video at some point addressing the inaccuracies in this video.

in videos it is usually Tim that sings the bass, but in the live shows it's Chris

Good video! FYI - Chris himself has said that usually in the Home Free recordings, when Tim is singing lead, he is almost always singing the bass line also. So checking out live videos of Home Free concerts or just sticking to Chris' solo, or 7th Ave content might help with your accuracy.

As a low baritone myself, it impresses me whenever I see other baritone vocal ranges that are this expansive; let alone that freakishly low for baritones. Bb1, contrary to what people think, is freakishly low for the average guy haha. I wonder if he trained to get lower or if he was just born with it... I've talked to high baritones/baritenors who have told me both of those things.. Some trained while others kind of had it. Anyway, yeah I won't point out what others have already said with the notes and whatnot... Keep up the good work, the video itself did a decent job of displaying Rupp's range.

i think him and chance are about equal in terms of roles in the group because adam definitely takes up the bass mantle better when tim sings lead but i think chris has a better upper chest range and falsetto register which makes him a more versatile lead imo both great singers that i hope i could someday come close to being as technically solid as

I beg to differ, Nicolas - he is most definitely a tenor. Voice type is not only classified by range but also the colour of the voice.

Here you are right, but if he is a tenor, but can sing both as tenor and bass, is it well to call him a tenor? ;p
@zollykod2541
@zollykod2541 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is, because (as I said above) of the general colour and tone of his voice. Classification is not only by range of notes. I'm a mezzo but can sing down in the alto range very happily - but my voice isn't as dark as a true contralto.
@BluevesPL

I would like to hear you :) I am singing as bass, sometimes in choir, it depends on time, but colour of my voice is rather a Barritone. But i wouldnt call myself a barritone, same with Chris.In my opinion he is a barritone with tenor colour :)

3 Octaves 3 notes? No, you mean 3 octaves, a tone and a semitone. That is the correct method of describing one and a half notes.

Some parts of this clearly are not the voice of Chris. I know he has a great voice and is a versatile singer from watching many Home Free videos but, again, this is not an accurate representation; a title such as "Home Free vocal range" would be a better fit.
@dylan_5
@dylan_5 7 жыл бұрын
Some of the low notes are incorrect because I was under the impression that Chris always sang bass when Tim sang lead, which Chris himself corrected me on. I would say this video is largely accurate other than that though. Which specific parts of the video are you questioning?
