Dear God, what a outstanding vocal range of amazing harmony. Bass singers have always been my utmost favorite. I've never heard one sing the such a vocal range like this! I sing and play several instruments and this is outstanding!!!!😮

I honestly dunno if 9:23 is growled… sounds kinda like chest fry mix to me cuz there’s a few overtones popping out. His low chest/chest-fry range is crazy rn it’s improved so much
@Мирич-з4е Жыл бұрын
I've played it a few times, and it's really hard to tell what exactly is. But you might be right. I haven't listened to his music for a while, and hearing those chest F1's really surprised me. His voice matured even more over the years.
@johndeeregreen4592 Жыл бұрын
@@Мирич-з4е, it's really easy to manipulate the sound on-mic, so it is hard to differentiate between what bass technique is being used. Manipulation with the proximity effect, chest-fry can be made to sound more like chest, for example. I sing bass and am quite familiar with using the mic to your advantage. Now, when he's done his covers with a room mic, he is working without a net... and you notice he doesn't go much below B1, as a result. Not to say he's a bad singer or not a phenomenal bass; the mic just adds a bit that is not possible in the open air.

Hey, thanks a ton for the great video. Tim is always so much fun to watch as well as listen to. He seems like such a positive guy with great character. His range is definitely mind-blowing. That type of ability must only come around once every few lifetimes. 🔥🔥🔥👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

To everyone saying he doesn’t use subs, he is familiar with the practice and introduced Geoff to it during the sing off via David Larson. It’s possible he slips into it when in his lower range or catches a bit which may be why it is difficult to tell. Also, when you get low enough, the rumble makes it hard to hear the tonal differences.

Neither of you are absolutely correct nor will you ever be because, as for any low singer, it depends on time of day, condition of voice and number of takes. Also, they can both use subharmonics, Tim introduced the concept to Geoff via David Larson, which means jumping an octave or an octave and a half down from their lower notes
@turanbirligi6969 Жыл бұрын
İt doesnt matter how long it takes or how many takes it took they hit this in some times in vocal ranges we use notes that you can sing that its enough you can sing it countable and tim doesnt use sub its chest fry hes using

Nice video! Though I’m not convinced 8:50 is a subharmonic, I’ve never heard him use subs and it sounds like his chest-fry. But I could be wrong.
@antrazitaj5209 Жыл бұрын
I think you are right, Tim never did subharmonics before, so it clearly was something else
@dylan_5 Жыл бұрын
There's a few other notes Tim has done before that are subharmonics imo (F#1s in Diamond Dreams and E1 in Just Sing), though at the very least it's not a technique he uses often. The reason I think the What's It to You studio Eb1 is a subharmonic note is because the entire passage (which gets as high as C2 iirc) is pretty clearly done in the same register. If he was gonna chest-fry the Eb1, I think the rest of the passage would just be in chest voice since he wouldn't need any fry support for a C2 and it would be an easy transition to the fry register as he descended down to Eb1 (which is what he did in the live performance I included).
