Hence why I said "borderline illegal". As for why other VAs support them, that's their choice and their moral decision. Sean is allowed to make that call based on how he views the situation. He decided that he couldn't support them while being Goku's VA. Nothing you say or do can change that.

There's actually a really good video on KZbin where Sean gives a detailed explanation on why he doesn't support TFS and how he feels about them. To sum it up: 1) TFS has been asked to cease and desist. Sean doesn't see it as fair use and neither do Toei or Funi. Therefore, he cannot support them as someone who represents those two companies in any capacity. 2) He has given Goku life for what, two decades now. This character has become something he cherishes and loves, after pouring so much energy into it. So to have a company make a parody of it feels like mockery to his work. 3) "If I were done being Goku...I could probably enjoy it" were his exact words

Scandal shit aside, most people don’t even realize it WASN’T Sabat’s voice in the Over 9000 meme. It was Ocean’s original voice of Vegeta, Brian Drummond, who recorded did the voice in 95 for the syndicated first 2 seasons (Raditz to Goku’s arrival on Namek). Sabat did re-record the segment later on for Funimation when they went back and redubbed the Saiyan and Namek saga for Funimations dvds and again for Kai - but nonetheless the meme that floated around the Internet for a good decade was Drummond’s nasily and more evil Vegeta voice, not Sabat’s more dignified and prideful take.

Dbz didn't come out in the US till 98, so it was less then 20 years ago. The famous over 9000 line was recorded as part of the ocean dub, Chris sabat was part of the funimation dub, which didn't dub the Sayan saga until much later since funimation took over after the frieza saga, and redubbed everything before some time later, so really he recorded his not as famous version of the line like between 10 and 15 years ago

i dont know exactly when chris sabat recorded his version of the line, what I do know is that Funimation took over dubbing the show from Ocean after the Frieza saga. they went back at a later time (Im thinking for the DVD releases (and reruns)) to redub the sayain and freiza sagas, which is why sabat's vegeta sounds somewhat similar to the ocean dubs only during the android saga of the funimation dubs. the point I was making is that the famous version of the "its over 9000" line was not recorded over 20 years ago and was not recorded by Sabat, it was recorded by the ocean dub, Sabat is funimation
