With the cat, you need to give her plenty of options to scratch bc their nails can get ingrown if they don’t have a way to clear the sheaths. Try putting several options of scratching posts/mats near the sofa. And with the litter box thing, it could be the type of litter, it could be trauma associated with the box (some pets link to ambush a cat when they come out of the box) if it’s a covered box, most cats don’t like those. Try having 2 open litter boxes with unscented litter in different places, keep them clean, and make sure no one is hurting or harassing the cat. Make sure she has access to some places where she can sleep in peace and no one can get to her. These are stress responses and with such a bustling household it’s likely your cat, who has no other means of communicating, is just asking for a little consideration. She’s the smallest thing in the house and it’s probably scary for her. Good comedy 🩵
