WOW!! This is one of the rare ones when you wonder if the cover is better than the original. I don’t know if that’s possible with Willie and this song . However, Chris Stapleton’s rendition is stunning. I know how happy that makes Willie. That’s part of the real beauty of this brilliant performance. I think more than anything, Willie wanted people to apply the song to their own lives and make their own interpretations. It’s very apparent that Chris Stapleton did just that. Not necessarily in his cover of it, but in his heart. Outstanding Chris.
