This isn’t the world of Chris. This is the world of Blues, people. Blues that started with African Americans in the late 1800s. Cmon man, this is ALL YOU. Your people gave us soul! It evolved more, especially after Stevie Ray Vaughn in the late 80s brought it back. This is OG. From bb King, jimmy Hendrix...all of them incorporated the blues. Chris is playing country blues with a modern twist. That’s what that is.💯

Chris I’ve been exactly the same about country music , I’ve never liked it. But when it’s mixed with something, like in this case, blues , I luuuuuve it! Just discovered Chris Stapleton & I adore everything he sings! It’s soul, blues & a little country. & btw, don’t feel sorry for him. He’s beloved now!!

Chris is in a class all by himself. He's AMAZING! His Run's are UNREAL! There is a good country song by George Jones called Who's gonna fill there shoe's. WELL I THINK WE FOUND EM HIS NAME IS CHRIS STAPLETON!

I've watched almost every reaction of "sometimes I cry" on KZbin and everyone always pauses after the first part of the chorus because they're in shock...... Just to have their world wrecked when he really let's loose with the next two lines. I love it lol.

He's one artist that never ever disappoints, song writing skills, a voice that sounds just as amazing live as he does in a studio recording, he can reach your soul with just his voice, a guitar and a small stage...no need for autotune or a big production when it comes to Chris Stapleton and his very talented wife by his side...the fact that he is so humble,kind hearted and has a real respect for the great blues,country ect singer's makes me love him even more.
@Onetigerl5 жыл бұрын
Chris is becoming known as his own genre, lol. No matter what he's singing though, whether it's a country ballad, a bluegrass tune, or the blues or rock, he's got a voice that reaches into your bones. I'd recommend his live version of Tennessee Whiskey from Austin city limits, I Was Wrong and Death Row which has a very haunting sound. Pure chills.

Great reaction to a freakishly great & powerful singer. I agree with every sentiment you express here - except the semi-dig at singers who "only" have "country voices": just because traditional country artists don't do the blues/R & B/rock influenced runs Stapleton does in no way means they're not great; it means it's not their style.

Funny thing is, this real, raw stuff that Stapleton sings, while with some blues influence, is actually the closest thing we have to “traditional” country in the modern scene. Most people who don’t actually listen to real country think that what’s played on country radio is all there is. I love country music, but hate country radio. This is the real stuff.

It's pure country....what you don't want to admit is that the difference between soul and country is very small at best. Good music is just that, good music no matter what label you try to place on it
