Hi Chris, liked and subscribed for you. I have had the Aura, and updated to Aruba, for maybe a year? I did not buy it for Nektarine but rather for the design and the sensitivity of the pads. And I got a decent deal on it too. It IS a bit convoluted to use, it takes me some trial and error processes and I agree with a previous comment that tutorials would be soooo helpful. I hope you don't mind if I unload a bit here i terms of describing my use of Aruba. I run Studio One Pro, latest version and I have several decent drum VST apps. Steven Slate, Superior 2, Kontakt, Battery 4, etc. What I really want to is input drum grooves from the Aruba using the drum emulation VSTs, not Nektarine. Drawback of Nektarine is no multi channel out capability. So, I load DAW and VST. I have a certain pad layout that I use and tweak if desired, This layout is saved to Internal on Aruba. Then I would use VST midi learn function, if available, to get the components assigned to the desired pad. Then save that as a VST preset. It works ok, surely a bit clunky and one preset at a time. Maybe there are tips for better workflow? What I find is that not all presets use the same mapping and is especially true between VSTs. ie SSD 5.5 vs SD2 vs Battery What I would like to be able to do is use any given kit within a VST, have it mapped to the Aruba but also have is cross-mapped so that it will play back 3rd party midi loops (ie Groove Monkee). It seems like a whole lotta mapping activity. I guess I could be focusing more on getting ONE great kit configured as described and then seeing how much work it is to apply this exponentially. It is also unfortunate that there is no mapping standard between VST makers. Yes, C1 and D1 are typically kick and snare with most makers but beyond that the midi notes get a bit proprietary for the various articulations. So it's not super-quick to transpose it to a different kit. And then, of course, one needs to have good file architecture to keep it all organized. Any thoughts or comments are welcome, from anyone here. Resources, related materials or WHY. Sorry for all the words, I like talking about it!! Now I need to do it. LOL Cheers

Hi Greg, plenty of words is fine. It sounds like enthusiasm. You can get some integration ideas here: sound-music.com/product-support-documents/ . You can call the office or email and have a chat. I haven't done as much work with Studio One for a while, but I can get involved again if required.

Hmm?! I might have to concider getting this one - ATM I am just using the AKAI MPD32 for trigging my drums and nothing more... it's kinda out-dated (to say the least) - tnx for a nice and informative video Chris :)

same... had mpd32 for 10+ years and my usb port stopped working... but yeah it's dated and the pads aren't nearly as responsive

can you move the pads and reorder them with the hardware only? does it have sample editing features such as trim & normalize, slice ??

Do you mean reassign MIDI note numbers?

The included Nektarine software is a plugin organiser. You can map the control parameters to your favourite VSTs and add VST FX. The included drum plugins are a drum sample player, and three drum synths for kick, snare and toms. Their sound editing capabilities are very comprehensive for tone changes.

Hi. Any idea if this would work with IOS?
@SoundMusicAus Жыл бұрын
Oh, I hadn't thought about that one. The main strength of Aruba is the organisational ability of Nektarine, which doesn't have an iOS version.

The guys at Nektar have told me that the basic commands will work if mapped through the iOS software

This product is entirely toooo complicated, they need to create tutorials on how to use it.

Agreed friend. It’s a very complex instrument and its a shame there aren’t more tutorials out on how to maximize this gem. However, its one if my favorite pieces of gear ESPECIALLY when used with Nektarine (which is equally deep but needs some workflow upgrade). Stick with it, the payoff is mindblowing.
