@@tategraham4196 drummers are always products of their woodshedded influences. This guy is a product of the Superior drummer age. Probably had a huge come up when djent was invented and created his own style as a result. Not an insult but also not complement. Buddy rich used to rag on people like him but I think this is one instance that, although he may not be able to play the style or feel that buddy has, he stands alone his own island as well and buddy probably could not manage to play what he plays. THIS is what I am happy about. The metal community finding their drummer paragons in places other than speed and creativity-starved complexity.

It's a mixture of posture & the fact his stick grip is like a club with thumbs rolled over so all motion comes from the arms instead of wrists/fingers. Crazy skill & endurance to accomplish what he does!

I’ve seen him play live a few times with OAA and although he’s phenomenally skilled, the nuances of his playing never translate live. Too much noise from the audience, the amps, etc.

adrieldrums with the power and speed he is using he has to stay stiff in a lot of the song so he can keep his body steady for control and accuracy. Try playing with your hip flexors and hitting hard to get a certain sound from the kit. It’s difficult.
