The SINGLE MOST UNDERRATED artist of all-time. having your music haunt souls isn't a learning-based process, rather it's a by birth thing and Chris is a rightful owner of such thing....

I've watched this video 10 times in a row. Living with the law changed my life and I don't know another artist with a more soulful voice and talent. He died so young but left such a gift of brilliant music behind.

I saw Chris Whitley in Sydney at the Basement in 2003 ,He was absolutely riveting. I was transfixed by his playing and sheer musicality and did not take my eyes from him the entire Gig, he seemed to be watching and playing to me. After the Gig he walked past me and acknowledged me for paying such close attention. He died in 2005 and I was very sad to hear that.

The guy was the definition of what a real "artist" is. I saw him several times, never disappointed. Just tragic he passed away so young......

+hazor777 His Sydney shows were just Stunning. He played like a Man with no time to lose or questions to be left unanswered. He totally blew the audience away. He was mesmerising.

I was so looking forward to it, but had to leave as my sister had just died from a failed lung transplant and HE WOULD NOT STOP SMOKING IN BETWEEN SONGS-love all his records and love his resonator, just couldn't hack it at the time

Saw Him in Vancouver.... LUV LUV this man and my heart shattered when he died... cannot put words to watching the videos I can find and I am broken to learn he died basically destitute and alone - I always felt the spotlite made him uncomfortable but the music he felt pushed him - a sad loss

I think any musician worth their salt would know ,they could not do it justice , Chris Whitley was utterly unique , he ate sleeps and breathed music ,and I hope one day he is recognised with the great blues men . I saw him perform and as someone earlier said he was utterly captivating , but even then it was clear he wouldn’t make old bones ,perhaps he did all he was meant to do ! He was an amazing musician ,who was so gifted and had a range of an angel . We will remember him ❤
