You can do these kind of makeovers, even if the usual products are expensive, there should always be an alternative that, with a little effort, can do the same thing. Also try not to set your expectations too high, even if it’s half as good as this, that is still a really good setup.

For the pegboard led installation it would be easier and better to only loop the data wire from first to last and feed the power parallel down so that every strip is directly connected to the "3 port wago" at the beginning. this way the voltage wont drop along the way and make the brightness/colors fade.

Mar the smooth metal surfaces with 220 grit sandpaper before you superglue. The scratches and grooves created give the superglue something to grab onto, increasing the lateral stress failure point. This trick helps with most glues or epoxy.

These are some great ideas. One thought though would have been for the lamp is to use a smart bulb and an optional smart button, and then just pull the chain, leave it on, and tuck it away. Set the button to control the bulb, and then mount the button on the lamp. Much less soldering required.

Would the smart bulb have the multi layer color thats shown in the clip? or the flame flicker effect? That might make the led strip option better.

NGL... kinda miss them BOSS plaid couches ... hahahah!! JK! Brother, I just love your vid's! IDK if I've ever mentioned to you in previous chats, but somehow, you videos ALWAYS seem for fill an info gap i have in a about to launch project, or planning for a future project - its literally getting close to the neighborhood of half of ur how-to's (except the wiring/solder ones, been soldering and doing reflow work for many many moons as my side hustle has been cell & tablet repair, as well as the originator of my side hustle career - all manner of laptop and pc repair for a decade or ... 3? lol). What you have done to your media room, i am doing to my living room, and now combined media room as well😁 So, again, a big thank you for all of your efforts and tinkering for the case, and an even BIGGER shoutout to the significant other, to which none of this would have been possible without their blessing and support! For those floor lamps, you could've just used 2 RGB Philips Hue bulbs or similar. Would've been easier.

Great job, just wondering, could u just use an RGB light bulb instead of the strip and hard wiring it? Maybe much easier. But great job!
@ChrisMaherDIY
@ChrisMaherDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! You for sure could use a light bulb and it would definitely be easier! The only thing you would lose is that gradient type effect that you get with strips since light bulbs (as far as i'm aware of) are still only to just display one color at a time.

Is there a reason why you connected the white wire to the ground on the LED strip ?
@ChrisMaherDIY
@ChrisMaherDIY Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! The ground from the esp device does need to share a common ground with the led strip for it to work.

Hello! How do you make the LEDs on the room sync with the contents on the TV? Regards!!
@ChrisMaherDIY
@ChrisMaherDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I wish there was a way to do it automatically (maybe there is but its beyond my knowledge) But all the lights in the room are connected to an esp device and controlled using WLED. I can sync all devices together so when I change one, it changes them all. Thats what I was doing here!

Love your videos. In this video what are you using for the screen? Is that a TV? Or a projector screen and projector? And do you have links to those products?
@ChrisMaherDIY
@ChrisMaherDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and glad you are liking the videos! Its an old projector with a basic 100" white screen pull down. Here is the link to the projector: amzn.to/3FMu1yD The projector worked out great but just recently trying out new 4k UST projectors and wow what a difference. But its one of those things that you dont realize your missing when you dont have it lol.
