Led Zeppelin is a British band that learned the blues by listening to Black music from America. They studied and appreciated it and created their own style. You will really enjoy reacting to their music because of their black blues foundation! I'm a black man that grew up in the 60s, 70s and 80s ... some of the greatest music ever made because everyone was learning from each other! Most importantly, we all had to learn had to take music and learn how to play some sort of instrument. I think this will get the younger generations back to making music with actual instruments and not with beats!

pxlmvr7 I can't remember if he mentioned Page specifically but Buddy Guy did a Ernie Ball Music Man interview where he mentioned British rockers coming to see him. As far as the birth of Rock music, Ike Turner is credited as the first person to record a rock song in '51, then Chuck Berry in '55 helped make it popular along with Bo Diddley and Little Richard in '56. Chuck Berry had the biggest influence as his guitar licks show up in pretty much every rock solo ever. As for Hendrix I believe he was the single biggest influence on blues-rock as he combined those elements as well as jazz into the Experience. If you look at the blues greats like BB King, Guy, Waters, and so on he took a little bit of everything made it his own.

The lead singer lives near me. Regularly seen around our town , the same town where he grew up, he stopped and let us cross the road in front of him last month. We just have him a nod of the head and he returned a smile. He does a lot for our local college and their music department. Legend is not a big enough word for him. You have to appreciate the drummer John Bonham! When he died they didn't want to look for a new guy. They just said piece out, band is over and we're done. That was it for Led Zeppelin. They did do a reunion later with his son Jason Bonham who became a great drummer in his own right.

Shaju Valappy he was the driving beat (literally) of the band. You can’t have Led Zepp without John Bonham. He was not just a master on the drums, he was creative, invented so many new drumming techniques, or pulled them from places that normally rock bands wouldn’t go. I’d say he’s one of the most iconic and most influential drummers of all time. I wouldn’t want to replace him either.

"How are they doing it?" With talent, without autotune, with real instruments in a recording studio playing the parts just like they do in front of a crowd. They are one of the legendary bands. I know it blows your mind, but music used to be organic and most modern music (especially hip hop) is recycling but to be fair, it's a continuous cycle, these legendary bands were also inspired by previous legends.

All of us were digging the Motown sound and blues echoing through so many British bands that melded it to rock to create something new based on something old. This was their very first song album number one. They were introducing themselves to the world for the first time and they wanted to show what they could do, show their range in one song. They did it by coming out and just musically punch you in the face. Four musical geniuses in one band! They got everyone's attention right away with this song. The rest of the album just goes on getting better.

Actually, John Bonham and Robert Plant were both 19 when they recorded this. It came out in 1967. They were both born in 1948. The ironic part was that they couldn't drink booze until they turned 21.

Led Zeppelin was influenced by old school blues men from the south, particularly the Mississippi Delta. Not many know how much influence they’ve had on music in later years.

They did this with primitive but excellent recording equipment. Bands now basically have almost unlimited tracks but in 1968 when they recorded the album they either used 4 or 8 tracks and used recording tape and bounced them from one tape machine to another. It's really fascinating what they did in the studio back in the day with the limitation of effects and other things. Those bands had true talent to work with those studio limitations. Jake Holmes originally did "Dazed and Confused" but like all covers Zeppelin did, they took it to a level that no band/artist can touch. This reaction makes it abundantly clear. After you're done doing more Zeppelin greats, come back to live version of this song. The 1969 live concert at Albert Hall (on KZbin) is among the best. There you'll see Zep take it to a whole other level.

I love the the reactions when younger people raised on a diet of rap and processed pop songs hear Led Zeppelin, there really is nothing like it! This isn't even one on the most extraordinary Led Zeppelin songs, you have the extra long epics of Kashmir and Achilles Last Stand, the WTF out there solo of Whole Lotta Love the incredible drumming in When the Levee Breaks, the screaming vocals of plenty of the other songs and the extraordinary 20+ minute long live versions of Whole Lotta Love and Dazed and Confused.

Welcome to Led Zeppelin, the Gods Of Rock. Their roots were laid heavily in the blues (you both have a really good ear), jazz, rock, funk, R&B and even some classical and eastern mysticism music. They are my favorite band of all time, since I was 13 years old, and heard my friend’s brother playing “Houses Of The Holy” in his room. It was love at first listen. Just like it was for you two!! Which was so awesome to see. To witness someone’s first time listening to Led Zeppelin, and watching the music rapture them away, is a priceless privilege. Thank you for sharing this with us!! All of them individually are also, in my opinion (and a lot of people’s opinions) the greatest of all time in each of their artistic disciplines of vocals and musicianship. Robert Plant-angelic vocals and pristine tone, incredible range and power, LOTS of soul and emotion, John Bonham-the most unique and possibly the greatest drummer that’s ever lived, Jimmy Page-virtuoso guitar genius and composer, John Paul Jones-a musical prodigy, classically trained, and is a multi instrumentalist; he plays bass, clavinet, mellotron, piano, keyboards, organ, sitar, mandolin, and a few others. And all of them were/are incredible song writers and musical arrangers. They are a band like none other before or since. Their sound is wholly unique, even today. Every album they made is a masterpiece. Every song they made is pure ecstasy. They have never put out a “bad” record. To me, They didn’t just make music, they made magic. Magic that still lives to this day. Because there music truly is the closet thing to magic, and the majestic, that I’ve ever heard. The first time you hear them, it’s like a musical awakening.
