Right. People sleeping on Chris Buck, one of the best in the game. Aside from his technical playing which seems about as good as anyones, his musicality is elite level. He has an ear for what sounds good. That’s more important, more impressive and more rare than technical playing in my book. He’s got it all.

Totally agree. Really interesting playing that you want to watch. And tries not to be repetitive.

Each week with the release of Friday Fretworks I comment on what a truly amazing guitarist Chris is. But this week I’m going to comment on his presentation style. Each week Chris is able to deliver these videos as if he were a professional presenter. As if that was his craft. He’s articulate, personable and engaging and is able to craft delivery of the English language as he does notes from a fretboard. Beyond that it’s his week to week ability to deliver depth of information with fluidity and confidence on varying topics that also amazes me. I don’t think he’s reading from an auto cue. If you are Chris it would be nice to know because that might be an indication that you are indeed mortal. Phenomenal as always.

@@schesbh1 With respect, this young man's ears are no different than anyone else who has stood in front of a screaming amp for decades. His level of commitment is what makes the difference. Natural ability is but a sliver in the overall musician, especially when it comes to the guitar. "Short stubby fingers" were my excuse for not taking music more seriously when I was a kid. Turns out I was wrong. Chris is not showing us things we can not do. He is showing us things that we can do, and he even gives us close ups to "borrow" from!
