There is an unwritten rule when listening to Pink Floyd. Never EVER pause during a David Gilmour solo. Apart from that, I'm happy you enjoyed it. I have been a Pink Floyd fan since the early seventies and never got tired of listening to this great band.

I can't bear all you tiresome dullards who start dribbling with excitement when a reactor splits up a guitar piece because you've got your excuse to trot out that dreary 'never pause a Gilmore solo' for the thousandth time. Who cares whether you're 'happy' with the way in which he's enjoying it. He's enjoying it, and that's all that matters. There are no rules.

PINK FLOYD sold over 250 million records world wide. They formed as a group in 1965 the members were Sid Barrett lead guitar&vocals, Roger Walters bass, Nick mason Drums, Richard Wright synthesizers organ & piano. Sid Barrett left the band due to mental problems and drug taking L.S.D. then David Gilmore joined the band as lead guitarist & vocals.and the band comes from London England.in my opinion the greatest progressive rock band to ever have existed in the world.

Pink Floyd was a British Psychedelic progressive rock band that began their career in 1965. This song came out I'm 1979 on the album The Wall. The band has been my personal favorite since around 73 when The Dark Side of the Moon album came out. I do however remember hearing one of their first songs in the 60's on my little transistor radio...it is titled See Emily Play. You'll love these guys if you find more....they have so much music out there. Unfortunately the keyboardist passed away and the original founder also is gone but he left the band in 1970. The bassist also quit the band in 1983. They are awesome!! Thanks for popping up in my feed.

From the ethereal soundscape of "Wish You Were Here" to the haunting introspection of "Comfortably Numb," Pink Floyd's music isn't just a collection of songs; it's a journey into the depths of human consciousness. Each note, each lyric, carries a weight that resonates with fans on a visceral level, igniting a profound connection that transcends generations. With their visionary approach to music, Pink Floyd challenged conventions and pushed boundaries, exploring themes of alienation, existentialism, and the human condition with an unmatched depth and complexity. Their sonic tapestries, woven with intricate instrumentation and thought-provoking lyrics, invite listeners to immerse themselves in a world of sound where every chord carries the weight of a thousand emotions. But perhaps what truly sets Pink Floyd apart is their ability to evoke a sense of awe and wonder, transporting listeners to realms both familiar and fantastical. Whether it's the epic saga of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" or the raw intensity of "Another Brick in the Wall," their music has the power to stir the soul and awaken the imagination. In a world where music often serves as mere entertainment, Pink Floyd dared to create art that transcends the confines of genre and classification. They are not simply a band; they are visionaries, maestros of sound who have forever changed the landscape of music and left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire and captivate audiences to this day. For that, we can only be grateful to these gifted artists, whose brilliance continues to redefine our very concept of what music can be.

I’ve listened to the longer “full” version, and I think Gilmour was correct to edit his solo. The extra minute-30 or so doesn’t really add to the solo’s magnificence, and David was a little ‘pitchy’ in the part he removed. When I recommend this performance, I always refer folks to this version, or PF’s Remastered version.

Pink Floyd is named after the bands 2 favorite blues artists, PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. Pink Floyd is the GOLIATH of the entire music industry and has been for 50 years now... they started as a blues based trippy space rock band in England, during the psychadelic 60s, and stayed true to those roots. You can hear it here...blues based and organic yet trippy and otherworldly. It's a combination that goes right to your head like a drug. I'm 64 now and Pink Floyd has been my #1 since I first heard them at 15. David Gilmour is the ENTIRE REASON that I had to get a guitar and teach myself how to play it, and it had to be the guitar I heard on all Pink Floyd albums, the VENERABLE Fender Stratocaster. Fast forward many decades...My custom painted deep purple pearl Strat sits right beside my couch, just in front of my guitar pedal rack and my 2 guitar amplifiers. I grew up listening to 20th century guitar rock. but when I heard David Gilmour...I couldn't NOT play guitar. Talk about INSPIRING !!...Gilmour's inspiration has lasted a lifetime for me and has never dimmed. Pink Floyd's contribution to the world of music, and to music fans, cannot even be described. Their album DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, for example, stayed at the top of the album chart, #1 in England (and possibly elsewhere), for 468 consecutive weeks (I might be off by a week or 2)...THAT'S OVER 4 YEARS DUDE....AT THE #1 SPOT...UN--FRICKIN' REAL..!!! and IS STILL on the billboard top 100 albums in sales of all time and every year... and that album came out in the 1970s . Like I said...the GOLIATH of the music industry !! HINT FOR REVIEWING ALL GUITAR ROCK. The guitar is it's main and central instrument, and the lead guitar "SOLO" is like a presidential speech to the nation...you don't grab the mic ...you just......DON'T.

Brother, fate or kismet has brought you to one of the greatest concert performances ever recorded. The PULSE concert is LEGENDARY. Choose any song from this show to review, every single song was excellent. I know, I saw this tour. This song is from Floyd’s concept double-album “The Wall”, which tells the story of a fictional young boy named Pink, who wants to grow up and become a rock star. The album centers on the walls we build to protect ourselves, and how those walls can become a prison. This song is about how Pink, trapped by his own success, turns to drugs to numb his pain and loneliness. If the song sounds like there’s more behind the lyrics, that’s because there is. Pink Floyd doesn’t write love songs; they write albums. And their albums are designed to have one break - in the middle, to flip the vinyl. Each song flows out of the last one, and into the next one. If you really want to experience Pink Floyd - and they absolutely ARE an experience - you have to pick an album, and listen to it from start to finish. And if you do choose to listen to an album, that album needs to be their legendary “The Dark Side Of The Moon”. It was released in 1973 and is STILL on Billboard Magazine’s Hot 200 records list. Last time I looked it had been on there for 900-some weeks. It’s the fourth highest-selling album in the history of the world. It’s been preserved by the US Library of Congress. It’s worth your time. If you explore PF further - and you should - you’ll find that they write about death, time, money, things that are common to us all. Their lyrics make you think. They stay with you. Pink Floyd is a worthy rabbit hole to go down, brother.

Loved your reaction my friend, and welcome to rabbit hole that is Pink Floyd! But here is something to consider for your next PF reaction ... imagine you were in the crowd that evening and Gilmour and the band had just launched into what is surely one of the most beautifully powerful and emotive guitar solos ever recorded - only have them completely stop every couple of minutes to share with the audience what they think of how the music is going so far! Do you get my meaning? Sure, we all understand that you have to pause sometimes, but here is a general rule of thumb ... NEVER interrupt a David Gilmour solo! Enjoy your PF journey. A friendly reminder, since you're new to Pink Floyd, there are regulations about interrupting David's solo. You could get stoned! The big disco ball is highly symbolic. First of all, it wasn't seen until the lights spotted it. It was simply not there! Hidden in a box in the ceilling. So when it got lit, you can understand why the audience went wild. And then, when it opened up and showed the shining diamond that's inside, a direct reference to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (which refer to Syd Barrett), the fans understood! Genius! A Pink Floyd song, by its own, is generaly very hard to fully comprehend. To get a good understanding, you really have to listen to the full album, from begining to end.

G'day Chris, glad you felt the Pink Floyd vibe. Their billions of fans all feel that same vibe, and many strong men still tear up at the first notes of many of their songs. This was the 2nd encore of the recorded concert after over 2 and a half hours of this quality of live music. Now i could suggest you listen to the next song, the final song to close the concert, to see the contrast in the feel and vibe between Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell, or suggest you do Shine On You Crazy Diamond next.......ah, but no. I suggest you download the lyrics for Time, then listen to Time and The Great Gig In The Sky together as one song in 2 parts, from the original CD or vinyl first , because that is the best version of The Great Gig , a song with vocals that will blow your mind.

Surprise!! You just landed on the best band ever, and the no 1 guitar solo of all time. I loved your reaction and don’t mind the pauses. I rejoice in younger people discovering them, and that’s it. It’s not like you have a PF guide sitting next to you lol. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pink Floyd strikes a good balance between high energy (which they can do with the best of them) and relaxed power (don't know how else to put it; maybe there's a better way of saying it); their sweet spot tends to be in the balancing of a lot of sounds and keeping the composition interesting, without hurrying. Definitely check out "Time" for another well-balanced song (either the album version or from this concert, Pulse)!

The crazy thing also is how insanely good they are live. David Gilmore is just on another level. No, he is not a technical wizard like Steve Vai or a shredder like Michael Angelo Batio, but the feeling of his solos is second to none! The only one I can think of that comes close is Frank Zappa! Oh yeah, and Jimi Hendrix!

Yeah, us Floydians get a bit miffed when you pause a David Gilmour solo. Pink Floyd is to me the greatest band ever. Go down that rabbit hole brother and, you won’t be disappointed.

Sir you have just experienced probably the best guitar solo on the planet, ( Rule 1 never ever interrupt a David Gilmour guitar solo, Rule 2 refer to rule 1 ) as a guide you have two ears and one mouth use them in those proportions.
