I'm using sanding wheels with my long reach air die grinder... what a Ton of work! Dirty back breaking too lmao! Yea the power balls only knock the dust off... seriously just to help them shine after all the hard work is done. Most don't know that heat from the friction is what helps lift out the contamination. It's definitely an Art Form!

I used to work at a bike shop as a kid. My job was to polish aluminum parts all day to a mirror. Instead of rags, socks, towels, we used the Mothers polish you have and Charmin Ultra Soft TP. It worked great. For whatever reason it had to be Charmim Ultra. And its cheaper than wags, paper towels, etc.

dang.. I’m going to do that next time.. I also think the blue shop towels might work good too…

I know this is an old vid, just going to add a bit of advice. Think about those pressure sensing stem caps. They are pretty flipping cool, but they press down the needle in the stem. If they get a little loose you will come out to your rig with flat tires. Ask me how I know.

Nice shiny wheels always enhance the appearance of most vehicles. That polished wheel with the nice tire looks awesome. Now when you are through doing the Jeep wheels, do something to make the white letters disappear, and the Jeep will look totally awesome. However, if the Jeep belongs to a girl, probably should leave the white letters alone, as she might not appreciate that.

@chriscraft770224 жыл бұрын
if they are rough you have to sand them.. I had some once I had to start with 180 grit and they turned out just fine... when they are in bad shape they aren’t worth that much maybe a set for $100 -$150...a set like mine when I started:$300...but polished maybe $400-500 new ones are like $175 each (AR172)

Hey Chris I got a quick question for you, so I have a set of decladded GMC aluminum wheels. The PO painted them gunmetal grey and I was looking to polish them. Any tips in terms of grit? I was going to start with an 800 but not sure if that is going to be low enough to get the paint out, and then 1000 then 2000. Also should I soak the sand paper in water or constantly run water over the wheel?
@chriscraft770223 жыл бұрын
you need to paint remove them you aren’t going to “sand the paint off” and then see what they look like.. I don’t know what decladded wheels are
@shakenfake3 жыл бұрын
Ah okay I figured I could just sand the paint off. I’ll use some stripper and get it off first then and see what happens. I know I’m going to need to sand though they are rough in a few spots I can see.

@chriscraft770223 жыл бұрын
I honestly don’t know what to tell you.. you are doing something that I would not waste my time with... the wheels look too rough.. so you would need to sand them down.. the problem is that the design of the wheels is going to give you some major problems.. notice how my wheels are like a big tub that can be sanded if needed.. even my 22” Alcoa’s on my semi conversion can be sanded... those look like a job
@shakenfake3 жыл бұрын
@@chriscraft77022 Oh those are not my wheels those are some I found on google to show you the declads lol. The ones I have already have all the glue and stuff off of them mine are way way smoother than those. Either way still going to be some work.
