I would have to test it out before giving advice. I haven't had to manually add computer accounts into active directory since it's part of our RIS/WDS process.

If you want, pastebin the code and then copy/paste it here in a reply. A couple quick things to look for would be: 1) If you are adding the users to a group, does that Security Group actually exist in AD? 2) If you are setting the password for the user from the script or spreadsheet, does the password meet the minimum requirements?

@r8421480 HAHA, them slim little tablets are not the easiest to hold onto. Sure, you can absolutely include a custom logon name in the script. Check out Server Basics (10), it shows how to include other fields. I will post your exact answer into the forum thread at the pc-addicts site if you want to see the code that I just tested and works.

You are welcome. You should be able to, but... I can't remember a time when I ever had to create accounts in AD... typically I let it happen on it's own when I join a client to the domain.

Sorry last post was cause ipad slipped out of hands. Any chance you could incorporate a logon name in the script, i have to copy accounts between two unconnected servers? Great vids for a guy whose just had two servers dumped in his lap, keep up the good work.

You would want to look at WDS (Windows Deployment Services).

Thanks for the video! You can go even further and automate importing of new users from .csv by scheduling the task. There is a tool called Adaxes for Active Directory management and automation that lets you do that.

Chris, Hi, i've listen to this video and have pretty much copied your script for us to use. when i run the script I"m getting tons of errors and it references the last section of the script called "$objuser.SetInfo()" i've went over character by character and had two programmers also watch your video and look at my code and we are stumped. I am running it under the Aministrator powershell based on your instructions. any thoughts. PS. I can email you my ps1 file for review if needed. Thanks Bill

I am getting errors after running up that script

I followed your video and I can successfully create users. However, users can't log into server through a client machine. I am using Win Srv 2012 r2 and Client is Win81. I even added the Users to a Group and that Group to Remote Desktop Users Group and also under Local Security Policy \ Security Settings \ Local Policies \ User Rights Assignment > Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services. I keep getting the same error ... "To sign in remotely, you need the right to sign in through Remote Desktop Services. By default members of the Administrators group have this right. If the group you're in does not have the right, or if the right has been removed from the Administrators group, you need to be granted the right manually." Now, I must confess that if I create the user manually I have no issues whatsoever. Would appreciate if you can help me out here. Also, is there a way to show on PS each user that successfully got added? Thanks
