Wow! Still amazed at how great that aluminum cleaner works! It’s a total new restore quality! Nice content as always Chris. Know you will get premium $ for your C4.

....and, just as predicted, Rock Auto did advise that the Spicer 5-3613X would fit, wrong, obviously way too small. I had to re-order the correct size 5-3615X, still from Rock Auto. Just a little disappointed they would suggest the wrong size, not the end of the world. Chris, I'm glad you posted this today, I was going to wait another month to tear down the 1/2 shafts and my return window would have closed. Thanks for your awesome videos, you help me slow it down and stay safe and follow the steps. I inherited my C4 when my father passed recently so it is my mission to finish what he started. Thanks for all the videos, the buyer of your car will get a truly solid car.

Good how to on the u-joint removal and getting the correct joints . Watching this brought to mind a way to make wheel hub replacement much easier by removing the half shaft . Of course , in a perfect world both the hub and u-joints would need replacing at the same time . Thanks , Chris .

Is it worth it to go ahead and do the wheel hubs while everything is opened up? I see the pair for about 90 bucks online.
@dalemihocik47322 жыл бұрын
@@steveo3947 You're going to put $45 hubs on a Corvette? Bad move IMO. The quality of today's replacement parts is not what it used to be and hubs that cheap, well let's just say you get what you pay for.

Good job Chris. As you say easy peasy. Either you have done that before or you are just that good. Having all the correct tools certainly helps. How much research do you do on most of your work? You certainly appear to have a lot of natural ability. Young and very ambitious. Anyway I'm always impressed with your talent. With today's labor charges you save tons of money and that's for sure.

I've never done this before. With most of my videos, I do quite a bit of research before diving in. I think stuff like this intimidates a lot of people until they see a video like this. It's really just like a big set of LEGOs. Read (watch) the instructions and you will get it done. Also, having the right tools for the job certainly helps. I've been doing these videos for 4 years now, so I've acquired most of the necessary tools.

Just did this to my 93. We don't have the space anymore to work on cars since we moved so I had to take it to a friend. I've never done this before so it's nice to see exactly how he did it. Definitely subscribing.

Did you account for thrust vector on your long extension? It will offset your 28 lb. Torque to about 26.5. So your torque wrench needs to be about 30 instead. Happy driving!
@krustycorvette17962 жыл бұрын
You can save a lot of time by simply putting a block of wood on your jack cup and jacking up on the rotor to get your clearance to remove the halfshaft. No need to mess with that rod end.

It's impossible to diagnose anything on the internet but U-Joints can cause what you're describing. Unless they've been replaced, your 35 year old U-Joints should probably be replaced anyway. I'm doing mine now & mine's a 1992 because it randomly squeaks & sometimes gets vibration at freeway speeds. Good luck.

When installing the u joint use two smaller sockets to join the caps on in the press? On the Drive shaft video it looked like in the install it was one small and one large on the press.

No, they are 50/50 balanced. Unlike the driveshaft which definitely needs to be oriented correctly.

@@mycorvettelife sorry what I meant to say is once I removed the bolts homing the joints. I didn’t have to remove the tie rods or anything the remove the half shaft from the car. I lifted the leaf spring on the side that I was replacing with a Jack and slid the shaft out. I made a video on it on KZbin
