Should have changed the differential ratio to perk it up just a bit nothing crazy like I did to my 94. Went from 2.59 to 3.54 . What a difference. Still just 2000 rpm at 60 mph. Seat of the pants difference puts a smile on your face. You will have to have a tech change difference in speedometer calibration in computer. Well worth it. Thank you for the video! 👍

Chris, why not change the side seals, you've gone this far. You are changing the rubber bushings and they look good to me on the video. Just like in your C5 you changed the seals, those get a lot of wear. Keep up the good work. 👍
@mycorvettelife3 жыл бұрын
There is no play in the side yokes which means the seals are good. The rubber bushings are cracked and hard.
@colt51893 жыл бұрын
@@mycorvettelife Yeah, I would change those batwing bushings while it's off the car. Might as well.

@@mycorvettelife Chris, we certainly appreciate the content. Great stuff. I also think you should pick up a C3 and make all sorts of content. There’s a gazillion of them around the world and people love them, even though they ride like lumber wagons 😇 Or get a C8! Love the shirt too 🇺🇸

I'm glad my differential carrier has never leaked. I'm fixing to change the gear oil again. This time I'll be putting in Amsoil as I bet this will be the last time I change it. On the ujoints, I recommend getting the Spicer ujoints that are for aluminum shafts. I'd also get new Spicer ujoint bolts and straps as they are cheap. I wonder if that carrier has been taken apart before? The sealant on mine is black. whereas yours is orange like something someone got from the auto parts store. I've been thinking for a while of changing my shocks. As mine originally came with the sport package with the Bilstein. Which I still have that on the rear, though the previous owner replaced the front shocks with some kind of red painted shocks. I'd probably get KYB as I don't have an interest in spending $80 per shock. Plus I've read the KYB shocks give a little softer ride than the Bilstein.

Great video Chris, is that bottom bolt on the diff a drain hole ? If not you could drill it out. Let me know please and thank you.
@mycorvettelife3 жыл бұрын
No, no drain in this diff. Only way to drain the fluid is to either suck it out the fill hole or take the cover off.

Chris my brother, 'YOU the MAN'!! Have followed/enjoyed all your posts, would've sold my '86 for a parts car, then found your channel. Hadn't been driven in YEARS! Turns out it needs a fuel tank, float/pump assy, and I feel stoked to do the work myself, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! I honestly considered buying(trying to buy), your car, but mine was a great driver back in the day, I'd LOVE to see her 'strut her stuff' once again! The build sheet for my car shows the Z51 code...found out thats the perf handling pkg, where can I go to find specific info on the pkg? What I have found out is my car has 3.08:1 rear gears vice 2.73:1, limited-slip wasn't specified, neither was susp spring rates, roll-bar diam, stuff like that... whats a good source for legit info? If you have to, PLEASE, thanks in advance, leave it in a reply. Lastly, I REALLY dug the music backing-track on this post! Who is that, I'd like to hear more of their music if its like that cut!! Again, thanks, man, I've enjoyed you doing what you do, keep it up, I'll keep checking you out; JB!

@@mycorvettelife Chris thanks for your response! My email is at james.b.hale@outlook.com, dont have to have on-going dialog if you don't want to, I'm just dedicated to get this car back on the road. Tank, float and pump are on order, installing LED rear lenses and pwr antenna also while I have access. If you would; PLEASE; send emails, if you want to; about fuel sys and susp mods you thing might apply, I won't respond unless you're cool with that. I would like to upgrade to 17" tires/whls... what do you think? Not planning to ditch car unless budget(or wife) makes me homeless!(lol) Other than that, I want to get it back running and drive it 'till the wheels fall off!! Thanks again man!!

I replaced my C4 diff by leaving the bat wing in the car. That left the spring and tie rods in place. But my C4 was hit in the rear and a little bent back there ( got it really cheap with 60k miles so I didn’t care…). Got a replacement diff from fleebay. Went back up in the car with the bat wing still in the car. All depends on what you trying to get done.

So you're saying it's possible to fix a sealant leak without removal of the whole thing?
@eddiebrown95903 жыл бұрын
OK great,, BUT Chris, why did you need to split the housing ? was there a leak ? i could not see one.. and when you have lots of access like that use a wire wheel on a drill to clean, way easier than a blade and a better job. Ok mate keep it coming enjoy your stuff.. Hey when you look at C4,s they really are not that hard to work on for a lot of things... Eddie C4 Australia.
