Warpath is damn lucky his design is so distinctive. Chest-cannon, burgundy-red, weird facemask, Autobot tankformer... it's all pretty great. Other than that, his personality is kind of standard-issue early-G1 "single-word archetype/annoying vocal tic." In his case, "hothead/yells 'kaboom' at random." He did have one hell of a Generations toy, though.

As someone with Tourette's Syndrome, I've always considered Warpath's speech pattern in the original cartoon to be a sort of vocal tic. That gave me more of a personal connection and fondness for the character and it's an idea I'd love to see adopted into future adaptations. I also would love to see Warpath get a new figure in the War for Cybertron line as I feel the one he received in Combiner Wars wasn't the greatest. I also think he deserves the deluxe class treatment. Also, I loved the design they gave him in the Cybertron games, too bad we never got a figure based on that design.

I really wish Warpath got more love. He's one of my favorite minor Autobots ever. He could be the Bulkhead of a series; destructive and strong, but has problems that help his battles. His Tourette's can lead to many small gags, such as the Autobots being in a stealth operation, but Warpath the whole time is holding back his tick until he couldn't take it anymore and screams the biggest *"KA-BLAM!!!!"* he'd ever bleat, alerting every Decepticon in the area.

In the G1 cartoon. The alt-modes weren't chosen by the transformers themselves. Their ship's computer scanned various vehicles and objects and reconfigured the bots that were similar in mass.

What you said doesn't make sense, even in IDW comics. In IDW comics, Transformers were born with their alt mode. Under the Functionist Council's rule, it is forbidden to change the alt mode, so if someone is born as a tank, he will have to stick with it for the rest of his life. Also, Impactor and Perceptor are also tanks. No one mistook them for Decepticons. The alt mode doesn't have anything to do with their faction.

My first G1 TF toy when I was a kid! We couldn't afford the bigger ones so I made do with this little guy. I didn't understand why he was so damn small when he was the same size as all the other Autobots in the Season 2 cartoon, and then suddenly shrank to the same size as the minibots in Season 3 of the show. Great thing about the toy was it was simple to transform, durable, and the turret actually turned. Ah good times :)

Warpath was always one of my favorites. If I remember right, he was supposed to have a somewhat significant role in the original script of the '86 film, being one of the leaders of a small Autobot resistance against the Decepticons occupying Autobot City after Hot Rod and the gang left the planet.

As both a Transformers fan and military enthusiast (who collects both Transformers and military scale models) I was very disappointing the DOTM game M1A2 Abrams Warpath did not end up in a movie or toyline, really loved that design. Although in the movie he should not be red, desert camo would work for him. With maybe some red parts in robot mode that are only visible in robot mode. Anyway I gave the desert repaint of Brawl an Autobot logo and reperposed him as Warpath. Was also disappointed F-35 Lightning II Autobot Breakaway was not in any movie. Hoping Warpath will get a toy in the Earthrise toyline with a correct earth tank mode. M551 Sheridan or maybe a modern equivalent like M1A2 Abrams or a light tank like Griffin of M8 Thunderbolt.

G1 Warpath was my first Transformer. I wanted a Masters of the Universe figure but my mother said it was one of the little Transformers or nothing. I just grabbed one and caught up to her at the checkout line. I didn’t even look at him until we got into her station wagon. Warpath was the figure that started my love for the Transformers franchise.

You know, part of me wonders if Warpath and Powerglide could possibly be brothers? Think about it, both are mainly red and white Autobots who transform into military vehicles (Warpath into a tank, Powerglide into a jet that seems to be based on an A-10 Warthog)
