Hey Chris, do you have any tips for fishing from shore when there's a lot of wind?
@ChrisMcIntee6 жыл бұрын
probably best to use a 2oz sinker with a small bucktail a foot above it, chicken rig type thing.
@ChrisMcIntee6 жыл бұрын
yea if its really windy then it could be a waste of time. trying to go out when winds are lighter will make it more enjoyable.. unless the bugs are out. there is a fine line between a light enough wind to make it easy to fish, and a light enough wind that the bugs are out in force. 10-12mph is probably the magic wind speed.

Thank u Chris and everyone!
@cy_yakfishing33586 жыл бұрын
I try to find a spot that puts me in a position that has the wind directly at my back (preferred) or so that I’m directly facing it. I think a crosswind that puts bow in my line is the biggest issue because can’t keep contact with my jig and can’t detect bites.

Chris, Great video, you always manage to get a limit. Sod stalking for flounder can be hazardous. how do you deal with the green heads and no see ums?
@cy_yakfishing33586 жыл бұрын
I see some peace token jigs in the box, they’ve got some nice stuff. You’ve been crushing the fluke this season from shore! Quick question, I seem to have more success at high tide and the beginning of outgoing, you mentioned you were fishing the end of outgoing. Are you pretty close to the inlet or further back? I don’t seem to have nearly as much luck at the bottom of the tide at the spots I fish.

C'mon Man!! Really need to get yourself a Leatherman Tool or at least a pair of decent needle nose pliers to have in that pouch... LOL..;) On fishing note... you are so lucky to have areas that you can actually catch keeper size fluke / flounder from the shore. If I were to do that in my neck of the woods I would catch dozens of short fish and and might get lucky and catch a squeaker size keeper while being put in the poor house buying Gulp grubs... LOL....kudos on the limit in a very economical way.

apocalyptic type no see ums lol cool video, do you notice a difference in taste of flounder from the backwater bays vs ocean shelf?
@ChrisMcIntee6 жыл бұрын
I havent noticed a difference in taste, but a more evolved fish eater might be able to tell a difference.
@MrXinsizionx6 жыл бұрын
You do run into some dark chocolate looking fluke in the back bays.
@markmondrinos77216 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, definitely. I think you can see these fish in Chris' video are much darker than ones he caught in kayak videos fishing the ocean. I guess this is because the fish camouflage with either the dark mud or light sand. I just wondered what Chris thought because I've heard people that say the ocean fish have a superior taste and texture, but I wondered if it could really make that much of a difference. Chris' reply supports my idea that it's probably not detectable given the fish are healthy.

Any tips on surf fishing in cape may? love fishing but don’t know that much cause I don’t get to go that often
@ChrisMcIntee6 жыл бұрын
can catch sharks and stingrays off all the beaches in the summer. usually its slow for gamefish species like bass blues weakfish and fluke, but you can catch small fluke weakfish bass on small jigs just about any given morning or evening, lotta times they are right tight to the beach or along the jetties. making the long walk to the north jetty of cold springs inlet also a good idea.

Right off the bridge coming into wildwood I caught 2 18+in keepers & an over 20in keeper. Was kind of a slow day & then the high tide came back in at 2:00. Non stop hits from 2-3:30
@DHINKLE306 жыл бұрын
Luke Stakelbeck what is your favorite place in wildwood to fish
@grouchygrundle6 жыл бұрын
DHINKLE30 I dont know the name of the bridge but it's the last one when coming into north wildwood. Stay as close to the bridge side as possible or you will get stuck when low tide comes. If its low tide go back as far into the marshy area as you can & when it's high tide stay close to the bend that goes under the bridge. You will get your limit every time. Especially now the flounder are killing minnows & gulps.

all of the grubs I buy that come in the plastic packaging with the twister tail are aways crimped and bent making the action in the water terrible. I boil water nice & hot then throw them in there for like 2 min till they're soft then lay them out on a towel or rag to cool down and dry so the tails can straiten out.

No mosquito repellent?
@ChrisMcIntee6 жыл бұрын
I have tried bug spray in the past to no avail. only solution I have seen actually work is to soak your exposed skin in skin so soft, and when they land on you they get stuck and cant bite... usually hoardes of no see ums just mean its time to call it a day. the bugs that live in the marsh, whether its mosquitos or no see ums, will still attack you even with up to 100% deet or permethrin which is military grade bug spray, I have used both, and all bug sprays, and the bugs just laugh a little before digging into your skin. making a flame thrower out of aerasol bug spray and just torching them is probably the most effective use of bug spray.

I dont say because the internet shows no remorse in regards to beating up a spot with trash and parking illegally, but the southern half of new jersey has tons of access to sod banks like this. inlet jetties, beaches, front facing jetties, bulkheads, bridges, sod banks.... the beauty of flounder fishing is you can catch them literally everywhere. nowhere is too shallow or too deep to catch flounder. If I were to go flounder fishing this weekend I would not be fishing these sod banks, I would more likely be fishing the deeper water of the inlets or the cooler more oxygenated water of the surf. the fluke are here from april to november, different months are better in different places. these sod banks are usually best early in the season.
