Hi Chris, Another great session. Poor Sean didn't get anything while fishing with the master. That has been Snagged-Bro's secret weapon for some time now. Or one similar to It. It's about time to go back to the Forgotten Pond, the one with the Big ones In It. This time, take a Large Keepnet. Or a Couple of Pike Bags, to keep the ones you catch from disturbing the others. See how many are In there. They must be really big by now. Thanks for sharing, and Keep 'Em Coming, for those who can't do It just yet.

@@s_s-g4d I really like jerk baits in general. I don't know what it is with the effzet tailed one I used a lot in the past but on those slow winter days it really drove the pike mad. I haven't used it in years - I should give it a go
@s_s-g4d
@s_s-g4d Ай бұрын
@@LG_Fishing well to be fair, one has worked fairly well for me this year in late autumn, when pike tend to stop biting, and that is Rapala Peto. it's however, somewhat of a different animal, as it doesn't glide (and I believe isn't really designed to) and instead goes straight on retrieve. still not my favourite, though: I love side-to-side gliders, especially those with longer glides. Big Bandit, for example, is also one of my (and pikes'!) most favourite jerkbaits, even if it's a bit on the more difficult to control and get going properly side. fishing for pike with heavy jerkbaits has been so much fun for me this year that I even started to make my own. that's quite an enjoyable thing to do in its own right.

Jerkbaits we used to call "plugs". We had plugs and spoons and Devon minnows and that was about it. There was an enormous spoon brought out by Efgeeco called The Piker, and one called the Colorado spoon, but we made our own, painted them and they worked mighty well. The biggest pike I ever caught (46 inches long, never weighed it) took a tiny Mepps made for perch and trout. Jerkbait is just another Americanism that has crept into our language, just like calling people "guys" now instead of "lads".

You must be fishing all private property right? There's no way a small island like GB with 50million people and few spots to fish would be that empty. In Canada we have half the population, tens of thousands of lakes and its still crowded everywhere during the summer. Enjoy the channel its interesting to see some of the baits you use for the same fish we have here.
@jacobpitman8938

I can walk my local River (Nene) and maybe see one person fishing in 10 miles..Not many anglers on the rivers/canals, as most are carp anglers only and not many carp in the rivers except escapees during floods. Most people in UK wouldn't know how to fish anything but a stillwater these days..They just see a video and want that big carp for bragging rights but who wants to fish for known weights/names at a venue, at least there are surprises and the unknown mystery in natural venues, part of the fun.

What's the advantage of using a fluro lead rather than a wire trace?
@s_s-g4d
@s_s-g4d Ай бұрын
wire trace becomes way too thick at the strength required for the overall setup to be, well, let's call it "balanced". yes it can still be used, but (to my taste) it makes it unacceptable. I use a 1.0 mm nylon line as leader (lure weight: 60..100g, the likes of buster jerk and big bandit). yes it's still not completely toothproof, but I had only one lure cut off by a pike on a few hundred of attacks so far. yes it's pretty thick per se, but it looks quite well balanced with the rest of the setup. and it's still possible to tie knots with it: I use Kreh Loop knot on the snap side and FG knot to connect it to the main line. fluorocarbon? well it's a bit less visible under water and glares less in the sun, but it's way too expensive in these thicker diameters compared to nylon. I see little point in using it.
