I'm going to have to say that after a attempts at creating my 1st KZbin tutorial in which I built a cyclone dust collector out of a harbor freight 2hp collector and a Oneida Super Dust Deputy..... I HAVE 100X the respect for KZbiners. I got maybe 15-20% done before realizing you are compounding the task several times and that is before any of the editing. Keep up the awesome job my friend!! You are for me at least a true inspiration!!

I built a similar insert for my Sawstop a few years ago. I Phenolic to replace the entire extension table. I also imbedded a slot track perpetual to the miter slot you installed. I then manufacture pivot that can be slid in the second slot. When a piece of wood is up placed on the pivot it can be spun to create a perfect circle. All of my slots will support all of the Jessem components. This makes my saw work fully as a router and a great saw.

I would send you some photos and maybe a video if I knew how to attach them. I am a strong believe in not building something that you can buy, unless the building of it is the enjoyment. I will also build something if I believe I can make a better mouse trap. To that end my top looks like a commercial product and was designed and built to accommodate all of the Jessem Router table attachments. None of which I have yet purchased. It was done on a friends C n C so it is absolutely reproduce-able. If you want some photos let me know how I might get them to you and I will send them.

Great video, Chris. I just received a Jessem router lift last week, to install in my table saw extension wing. I wanted a drop-on fence for my Biesemeyer, and your version was exactly what I needed. Finished it up today, and it works great. Thanks for the clear, step by step instructions, made cloning this fence a very enjoyable project! (the music was awesome, particularly the last piece. What I love most about this is that you made a router table with the t-glide fence. I absolute hate traditional router table fences. Many could argue their use, but I don’t see myself ever needing you use a router where I won’t want a perfectly straight cut, so the t-glide makes the most sense. Good job with this concept. Although now I’ll have to buy a sawstop… my bank account will hate me.

I was trying to figure out how to add a fence without adding a fence or marring up the table saw fence. Awesome idea an dlove the pvc. I think it would have looked epic if you painted in black and nice call on the mag switches. Would be cool if there was a t track on the fence in the middle. Wonder if you could build two small clamps into the wood fence to attach to the back plate. I don't have 400 for a sawstop or bench dog right now so I am considering using an old aluminum saw and doing this. That said, that table looks epic.

I enjoyed the video, but I do have a basic concept question. When you built the two sliding "sides", it appears that the purpose is to adjust the gap BETWEEN those two sliding sides based on the size bit you are currently using. Can those same sliding sides be adjusted forward/backward? Example: if you used this router to trim "x" off the edge of a board, the side "receiving" the freshly-trimmed board should be adjusted FORWARD the same "x" distance to compensate for the amount trimmed - to keep the board perfectly flush with the fence. I have watched many table saw/router videos looking for this specific feature to be implemented- but haven't spotted one that mentions this scenario. I can do this easily on my router table, as the two sides are mounted independently. Any thoughts on how to add this feature on a table saw/router fence? I want to ditch my router table and use table saw exclusively. I know that someone is going to respond: just perform the trim on your table saw instead of the router - but its difficult to remove 1/16" inch from the edge of a board using a table saw; piece of cake using a trim bit on a router table. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
@ChrisPowellFSD
@ChrisPowellFSD 3 жыл бұрын
Yea you could just use shims on one if you set it up the same way as I did. It would be interesting to see a quicker adjustment method. Maybe something that had screws to adjust from the back and push the fence out.
