Didn't mention it in the video because I filmed this last week and I know it doesn't have anything to do with the content but I'm deeply saddened by the news of Kobe Bryant and his daughter's death. I was 12 when he was drafted and playing in the NBA was my dream as a kid. I would always be inspired by him and his will to be the best. Just take this as a reminder to be present with your loved ones because you never know when they'll leave you.

Penn and Teller were actually in a bigger part in Borderlands 3, they were two big antagonists and Penn even voiced himself. Teller has a voice role too in the game. There's some cool easter eggs too, Pain's ring finger's nail is painted red and he has a three of clubs in his front pocket.

This is exactly why I enjoy your channel so much! You don’t shy away from letting lesser known people get their stuff out there and seen by the masses. Good on ya, Chris Ramsay, keep it up. Plus, I’d love to get my hands on some of those puzzles you show, but I have a large family, wife and 7 kids, so don’t have much cash to put out for them. I will just have to keep watching you to enjoy them

I was wondering if we upscaled this tech if hoverboards would be more tangible... enough speakers pointed in ways to create pockets of levitation under the board? Enough to support the board and human.

@@jyxtermaddox5199 oh hell yeah, that makes enough sense. Super sonic sub woofers lol
@OnLee_Quality
@OnLee_Quality 5 жыл бұрын
Haha. You can not scale this up that much. In order to make the wavelength of the sound long enough you would have to lower the frequency waaaay too much. It would not even be sound at that point. Biggest object to be levitated like this is a 4-5 mm foam ball. This unit uses 40kHz which means the biggest object you can levitate is less than 3mm. But we already have wind tunnels. Thats practically kind of similar.
@Datrebor
@Datrebor 4 жыл бұрын
I think that even if its out of the range of human hearing it will affect people in some way. It is a neat idea though and it might work for a bed but not a hover board though. How you set up the speakers in the ground? He said where the frequencies meet so you need speakers above and below.

When my son was 7 we took him to a magic show. He was amazed. He came home and decided he was going to do magic. With all the flourishes he placed a napkin over a salt shaker. Said the magic word and pulled the napkin off the shaker. The total look of devastation when the shaker was still there broke my heart. He got a magic set for Christmas that year.

For those of you curious as to how this works, this is something call acoustic interference. As most people know, sound comes in a wave and when you align multiple speakers together precisely depending on the part of the wave that overlaps, they either amplify or destroy the sound. In this little model all the speakers have the same frequency and thus there are certian points above the speakers where all the soundwaves come together in a single point. You can actually see all the points that the sound waves meet together at @3:54. You could measure those distances between water droplets and figure out the frequencies of the speakers.

@OnLee_Quality
@OnLee_Quality 5 жыл бұрын
@Will Heap The commenter means: Speakers use magnets to vibrate a disc in order to create sound waves (Irrelevant detail in this case but this is what the commenter pointed out). The speakers are arranged in a way that a bunch of standing waves are created (frequency is important too, 40kHz).Vibrating air molecules (aka. sound wave) keep light and small objects in the air by bumping into them and countering gravitational force. End of story. P. S.: This is a technology not meant to be scaled up (can not be done due to how sound works) fo any of those who are wondering.

Not only do Penn & Teller know about their appearance in Borderlands 3, but Penn did a whole bunch of voice acting for the game. So you can be running around killing opponents and then gradually hear his voice as it is broadcast over an in game speaker. It's pretty awesome. Teller might have done some voice acting in the game as well, but if he did... Who would recognize his voice?

Boxes have 3 dimensions and the fit is 2 dimensional. So a 90 degree rotation of the interior box can make it fit within the box it once contained. This also means that 3rd dimension of the striped box cannot contain the white box so it does not close fully and the stripes help disguise that.

One thing I would fear with the acoustic wave Fq interference machine is if you scaled it up it very well could produce a ultrasonic sounds and field that could be very dangerous for a person and some other materials that could potentially vibrate so hard that it could break or shatter. Ultrasonic droplet suspension is thought to be a method of mixing highly volatile chemicals in order to create new pharmeceutical drugs without impurities through reaction of containers. My friends used industrial speakers capable of holding large droplets for their physics project and that's how I know. Interestingly the standing nodes on the sound waves are where the droplets are sitting. In theory if you alter the waveform you should be able to produce different number of nodes and so have a varying number of droplets suspended at any given time.
