Never thought about "hollusions"/ "stereograms" being involved, but I'm so thankful that I'm able to easily see the 3D effect in these types of images. Actually, depending on how far you are from the card, you can get different configurations. But yes, on the first card, those two lines are the deepest. I'm seeing it more as the center row of symbols, not so much the lines. So, I'd have to train myself to think in terms of lines and not symbols....at least with that deck. With the ace, I really started to pick up on it. To me, it looks like a step, but the step is deeper than the others, hence (in your description) "a wider line". Regarding suit, the first thing I noticed was the difference in color shade in that top left corner. In fact, that's what I thought might be designating the number when you began the tutorial. Now, to me, identifying this is harder than the eye adjustment for number. Of course, it's like anything else. Just work on it enough and it will become second nature. I used to play poker for a living when I was 19-20. One of the things I taught myself (aside from reading tells from opponents), was to ID my cards by only having the very edge of the number showing. Maybe a less than 1/32" and it was again, thru sheer repetition. Back then, unless you lived in a bigger city, you had to discover things on your own. There was no internet back then. Now I'm now wondering what differences there are between the WL-R ($12 d), the WL-B ($12 d)and the WL-SB-BL ($20 d) Aside from the obvious, of course....laymen obvious. Excellent video Mr Ramsay! Always compelling.....

I just got this deck recently. I found a much simpler way to read the lines. The half spades on the side(s) narrow it down to one or two options and the direction of the thicker line tells you exactly what the card is. For example: read the half spades on the side from bottom to top. If the 6th half spade is lighter, it means it is either a 6 or a Jack. The thicker line will always be right next to this lighter half spade. If the thicker line goes from bottom left to top right, it’s a 6. If the thicker line goes from bottom right to top left, it’s a jack. Kings are always and only the 8th half spade. Twos are always the second. An ace is always a singular corner half spade that is lighter. “Lighter” can also be described as not having a thick red line that the half spade has. Hopefully this tip helps.

I am an utterly NON-magic using/capable middle aged lady who simply loves pro's, and pro's that have deep mystery to them. Not the Cris Angel fake mystery, but Blaine works just fine for me on that. Plus? I find knowing some of the secrets seriously helps in my enjoyment of the tricks being used. I can watch for gives, and sleight of attitude used to distract the mark, etc. Doesn't hurt me or my enjoyment at all to know the secrets... Love the tricks even more watching a pro do them. Cheers!

@cypher90006 жыл бұрын
I've got these exact White Lions. Tried seeing the lines, can't really do it. Need to persist! Edit: actually you're wrong on this one, Chris. It's not the lines, it's the half spades on the sides. You have to start counting from the bottom and find the lightest one. I.e. if it's the bottom one, it's 2. Second from the bottom - 3, etc. I'll let you figure out the 8 and up :)
@allthingssilver76356 жыл бұрын
Cypher I see what you're talking about now... When I look at back of card and look for white lines I can see bolder white lines but the lines that look bold to me don't always match up to which ones are suppose to be the bold lines.. So I can kinda see the way Chris is explaining but I do see what you are saying too. If you look at the half spades counting from the bottom like you said, the line that runs down the center is less bold on one compared to the rest. Also I was thinking white lions name came from telling "white lies" magicians are lying to you but they are small white lies. And so if you are lying or lyin or lion to someone about your trick your telling a white lie. Lying sounds kinda like lion. I could be totally wrong, that was just my take on the name.
@davidcardinal546 жыл бұрын
Cypher what yo are saying is true because there is two lines in the negative space of the spades i.e exactly what Chris is saying. You are wrong here my friend. That other kid that made a tutorial saying what you are is wrong also. Keep looking

My grandfather used to travel from his hometown, Glasgow down to London & back. He'd go first class. He had some great card tricks, slight of hand etc he'd make small talk, this was in the 50's & 60's when people used to talk to each other on trains. On good days he'd make some decent money & mum got a present & some sweets perhaps. He would rinse money from the people he'd meet with his tricks. He taught me "find the queen" the three card trick people do on street corners, bars, parties. I used to do it at school winning some extra cash for sweets, arcade games & things kids like to spend on ✌🏼😁 Now I just do it for fun or to show off. Happy days & memories.

I have to agree, seeing as you usually have no problems revealing the secrets of effects your own and others that you were going to go through every detail. The “order” the deck comes in is SUPER important and SUPER effective and it is one that helps magicians fool magicians and lay people alike. It is the most used “sequence” for. VERY good reason. But I really thought you were going to tell everyone and explain it.
