In Spain we’ve seen Juan Tamariz on TV for decades. He’s sooooo funny, because not only he’s a magician, but a great actor. He’s the best card magician and the best entertainer, his tricks seem so simple and so impossible at the same time.

Tamariz is the best. The “air violin” he always uses at the end of his tricks has become a cultural thing in Spain and everybody knows where it comes from. I guess he was the person that made magic very approachable and relatable in my country. He had a very unique sense of humor and his mere presence brought a smile to your face. He is the GOAT

thanks Chris for give the credit to Juan Tamariz that he deserves, I grew up with him in the early 80s, we kids love him more for his chaotic performance than the tricks, he was funny and too fast for kids, so we didn't have a chance more than surrender to this amazing and talented magician, applauding at the end with the invisible violin play. He always had a soft spot for kids.

I'm not really into magic now and I don't understand why this video was on my feed but I have seen the name of Juan Tamariz and I had to watch it. So many memories came to my mind about when I was a child watching him on TV with my family. Then I really liked magic because of him. His personality, entertaining and with that sense of humor, very chaotic but funny and kind at the same time. He's a really good storyteller, he knows how to catch everyone's attention with those stories that doesn't make magic boring just getting a card, he makes a story about seasons, about betting for a card, predicting future, always something different and fun to watch. That is entertaining. When we were kids we were always playing that imaginary violin he plays at the end of his tricks. I didn't know he was in English shows too. Happy to see him and have a laugh again with this video. Thank you for sharing 😊

But I would never, in my life, thought that I'd see a magician on your channel that I didn't recognize but at the same time would feel so much "that's him!!!!" kinda feeling. I know that I've seen a lot of things throughout my journey, he's always been around, but seeing this video got me so emotional because it's the exact video I was growing up with, without remembering seeing this video … until now! Holy cheese balls (!) what a wonderful experience! Thanks for letting the rest of the world know about señor Tamariz!

In Spain Juan Tamariz is very well known and appreciated. I've been as espectator in one of his shows a couple of years ago. At one moment he was doing a trick with some cards. A camera was showing in a giant screen a very close view of his hands. He was moving the cards very very slowly. All of us saw how he, apparently, bypassed the card he should be moving (the one that he asked us to follow from the beginning and that we all thought we didn't miss from our sight at any moment) and moved another card instead. He stopped and said : "What? Do you think I bypassed this card? " and then proceed to show us the card...and it wasn't the one that everybody thought it was. He is a master at deceiving till the point that he has written books on how to control the audience. And it is known that the CIA has used some of his techniques. And he is also funny as Hell!

When I was very young, Tamariz prepared one of those weekly fascicles courses. I religiously went to the kiosk for more than 2 years so I could complete it fully. In it he taught the very principles of "magic", but also magic history, juggling, papyrus, magic psicology, misdirection... etc. I still have it downstairs. This was before the internet, and it was very detailed for the time. Many many years later I had the privilege of watching him perform live in a 90 minute close up routine, along with some othe magic that was not his forte but still performed convincingly. It was amazing. He is truly a living legend and her daughter is quite good as well. Jandro, who you might know for winning 4 times the Fool Us trophy from Penn & Teller, is probably the natural heir of his style. Good job as always, you brought good memories with this one :)

I have been a practitioner of Card Magic for just over 21 years. I'm 35 and have not learned anything new in a decade. Now I'm rediscovering my passion for learning new material, refining my skills and connecting with people and I only just started watching Chris Ramsey but I really appreciate the hard work and passion that comes through these videos! Before today I have never heard of this Spanish magician and after only the first 2 tricks in the video, it's clear to me I have a LOT to learn. One question I have been wrestling with recently since taking magic up again is about personas. It's clear that Juan has an excellent persona while he preforms! I read somewhere that all the best magicians have a persona but I'm unsure of how to approach finding mine as for the last 21 years, I have truly been myself while preforming. I wasn't trying to be something I'm not. I'm genuine, funny, quick witted and kind. I'm worried if I start trying to make a persona now, I might come across as fake or trying too hard. And people Will pick up on that. How should I approach this?

I am not a magician. But have been watching Tamariz for decades on TV. for many 80s and 90s kids here in Spain he was a hero we watched with family weekly. he has been interviewed about that same topic maybe that can be interested for you. Whatever you choose to be, I recommend. you be like tamari humble and gentle with kids and funny. I am sure you will find out. something. that resonates with you.

He's so great, I always saw him while I was a child. And the way I remember him the most is as a comedian, a man who would always make you laugh, which may be even harder than magic, and on top of that a great magician. Great to watch him again after so long and knowing that his genius has inspired many magicians.

I remember watching him on TV when I was a child. When I grew up I saw him a couple of time live on a theater and he is amazing and what he does is unbelievable. Years later I saw on TV a documentary about magicians mentioning that he was an internationally renowned magician. Waiting for another one of Juan Tamariz!

Love the facts of how fluid memory is. As ex military psych dude it is fascinating how much manipulation of memories occurs. The phrase I’ve used for a long time is the more you visit a memory the more you alter it. You can go as far as implanting memories if you are not careful during interviews.

In the 80s and early 90s Tamariz had a lot of appearances in Spanish TV (btw there where only two national public channels + one regional public channe back then). I think both kids and adults were delighted by his genius.

I love this kind of video, to be honest you have one of the most relaxing channels to watch, just a pleasant way to pass 20/ 30 minutes learning new things.its great how so many people on youtube are willing like you to share their passions. I think the level is perfect for someone like me, I am no magician but have a basic understanding of magic, and your videos perfect explain how the many levels, the performance, the psychology, the mechanics of the trick come together to create the perfect performance.

I'm so lucky of being from Spain and my three favorite magicians are Juan, Dani Daortiz and Mario López and you just review their stuff in this month! I'm so happy these three crazy monsters of magic will reach a lot of people that may don't know them just thank to your videos, so thank you so much Chris, love all your work ❤

@@sinfulbeliever7083 same. i dont think that was the point though. i think it was just an odds game so that 1/4 of people were fooled. i remember someone doing a trick where they would ask someone to handle and shuffle the deck and to pick a random card. then they would guess it; when it was wrong 51/52 times theyd play it off and say something like "well that would have been really cool if it'd worked, right? lol". but if they did get it(1/52 attempts on average) it would completely blow that person's mind.

I was going between the 7 and Ace. I didn't pick the 7 initially because I figured that was the attempted force cause it immediately drew the eye being the only black card so I picked the Ace. Truthfully I didn't even see the 4 lol. So it did not work on me, wonder how many it did work on though.
