I thought I'd share this. Here in Australia we have very similar bins. Two smallish wheels. Owing to a rather long driveway we generally hook the handle of the bin over the tow ball of the car and drive it down to the road and leave it parked ready for collection. One day, we forgot to take the bin off, and drove into town. Some 12 km later we parked and discovered the bin was still attached. Yep, we proved that a standard bin can do 100 km/h (60 mi/h). Apart from a couple of melted spots where the wheel had rubbed on the bin, it survived - and lasted for many years after.

In the rural south USA we have to drive our trash off to the landfill ourselves. My trash can got up to 70mph in the bed of my truck (a ute is what I think y'all call them lol) but I'm sure I can get it up to 80mph before it blows off.

We used to ride these bins as kids, you put a skateboard under the handle and lie it flat find a hill and ride that bin no brakes. Plenty of crashes. We also used to get a large piece of plywood and put a skateboard on each end and we would all get on and ride the flying carpet. You did good, ticked all the boxes and survived the crash unscathed. That was much more fun to watch than I thought when it was recommended for me. And for the steering, you probably know that by now, but since I didn't see it in the comments and it maybe comes up as a question: Steering was bad due to the rear axle not having a differential. A diff allows both wheels to turn at different speeds while both are still powered, this allows tighter turning because without a diff, one wheel must turn at a wrong rate for its turn radius. In the first cars they avoided this by just powering one wheel alone while the other one on the axle was just for stability reasons.
