I am making this comment minutes after I landed my first official job as a web developer/designer. I started following the advice in this video December of 2020. It is now April 2021. I had been working on learning web development before that time, but it was a bit chaotic in my approach and I had very little I could prove on a resume. If you follow the advice in this video you will absolutely land (or at least wildly increase your chances) a job in 6 months. Thank you for your advice Chris. It has truly changed my life.

I made it to the end. Haha thanks so much for making this video... I am a 36 year old married father of 4 who quit my corporate management position to follow my dreams of being a digital nomad. I have been in "tutorial hell" for the last 8 months and decided to make a huge change with how I am approaching it. I invested in a state of the art home office setup and not even my wife knows how much that rabbit hole cost us haha but, I plan to start "fresh" and document my complete learning journey via live streams to sort of have a video journal of where I was and what I was doing at certain times. I want to be able to respond to chat and use them as a learning partner if it ends up working out that way. I do NOT care about monetization or anything for my channel or anything but I will make my streams as professional looking and real as possible, just because that is the type of person that I am. While I have been collecting tech to setup a good streaming ability and preparing my content list, you have been a huge inspiration to me. I have watched hundreds of hours of KZbin content over the last 8 months and for some reason your authenticity has resonated with me and I truly believe the words you are speaking. @@dmamrenko12 okay, I have zero experience. Where do I start?
@dmamrenko123 жыл бұрын
@@Twistedstar0320 if you have really zero experience with programming then I would recommend that you choose a general project, whether that be a small console application (which could be in Python or Java or C#, I would go with a python application because it's easiest to learn the basics of programming with it) or if you wanted to make a small web page, (you will learn HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript). Whatever you want to work on will determine what technology you will use. Everyone likes to ask "where do I start?" But the real secret is to just start some sort of project, anything that peaks your interest. There's just about nothing you can't learn from KZbin, And when you run your application most of your errors will be in the top search results on Google. From my personal opinion I would suggest that you get some programming experience in Python to do simple things quickly, But then progress to object-oriented languages like Java and c# to be able to build web applications, but to study up on really basic web development before you jump into those kinds of projects. Don't waste time with GUIs, they're out of date imo.

Just remember to distract yourself and focus on positives. Praise yourself for your achievements and only judge yourself by what you know you are capable of. Nobody else can tell us that we should have achieved this or earnt enough to buy that. Happiness comes when we let go of the focus that makes us dissatisfied and construct new objectives for our lives. Just remember to be kind and love yourself. @@nmnisi4079 Now I'm pretty good at JS. My advise is get a solid course with fundamentals and practices. then each subject you come across in the course pause the video go to KZbin watch 10 different videos, of different people in that specific subject. Then go back to the course and see if what is been teach make sense. if does you understand it if don't you need to study more in that specific subject. from what I gather code is more about understand what you want to do and which tools you can use to achieve that, then how to do. The "HOW" is a bunch try and error and a lot of googling lol. But that is the opinion of a newbie. Take with a grain of salt.

I learned HTML in 1994 and I approve this plan! Excellent path, including GitHub and React. Knowing the fundamentals is one thing but building real-world examples really levels up your knowledge and skills where you can actually solve problems on the fly if they test you in an interview (I will test you!). Take it a step further and take an exam after learning JavaScript, like the Microsoft HTML5 Application Development Fundamentals (sadly it’s retiring June 2022 but there are probably similar certifications available). Add that badge to your LinkedIn profile and watch your offers pour in. Microsoft 365 Fluent UI uses React, so that’s one technology area you can focus on once you learn those fundamentals. Good luck, everyone! You’ve got this!

I'm in the same boat right now. I have gotten to a point with python where I'm able to write intermediate programs independently. But I'm getting into front-end development so learning Html/CSS & Javascript is necessary. For you if you dont want to become front-end developer, don't learn these things, and just stick with python and master it.
@shrooobdude3 жыл бұрын
It really depends what you want to do, if web development is something that sounds interesting to you, you have no choice but to learn some html and css. Also html and css aren't really programming languages like python is, they're markup languages that purely describe what is on the page, and once you get to javascript you'll find it's very similar to what you've been doing with python and you'll learn to appreciate html+css as a tool to make your programs more interesting and interactive.

Man is speaking truth. I recently tried out a coding bootcamp. I failed. I failed because when I got off work I wanted to slack off. When I was in class I didn't pay attention, I would turn my camera off and start gaming. I just didn't try. It also didn't help that I worked from 11pm to 7am. I ended up throwing $13,000 down the drain. If you are going to take the gamble of going to a coding bootcamp, you need to WANT it. You have to take that time out of your day everyday to set aside to study or be in class or whatever the case. I WANT to be a developer. That's why I'm going to try again and I will keep trying until I get through school and land that job! The takeaway I'm trying to give is: Don't give up on yourself, invest in yourself. If you are going to take that leap of faith, you need to stick the landing.
