When the Pretenders came to my hometown in 1982, I brought a rose and threw it on stage. Chrissie laughed, sneered at me, and crushed it with the heel of her boot. The crowd went wild. Lifelong fan!

Just a couple weeks ago I saw her on her birthday and handed her a card. She flipped it behind her and with perfect comedic timing it flew like a frisbee and the look on her face was priceless. She hasn't changed lol but after the next song she knelt on the already low stage and handed me her pick and smiled so beautifully, and we exchanged thanks. Stage antics of a tigress, sweet as a peach.

I'm a Boomer! 53 years old. I remember opening weekend of MTV in Madison Connecticut. There was a lot of concert footage for American bands because there was no format to play music videos so bands didn't have any. The British bands did have videos which I loved, The Pretenders, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Clash, Dixies Midnight Runners, Elvis Costello, Adam And ect. I was there man. I remember.

David Byrne in his book talks about making a video, putting it on a tape, running it over to MTV, and seeing it broadcast in constant rotation the next day. Wide open solution space. Corporate domination put an end to that. Art is filling the open solution space. When it’s gone, it’s gone. Classical, jazz, same thing.
