Her steps are correct Start with vocabulary Then I would introduce the questions I would introduce the questions Then go into the text It is good to tackle questions first to help facilitate with students would be looking for prior to reading the text

I like some of the guided reading techniques she uses; however, at the beginning she was focused on context clues, then jumped to figurative language, followed by alliteration, which seemed to be two newer/unknown concept to the students. In my experience with my lower groups, new key terms like that throw them and some shut down immediately, feeling overwhelmed.

You're a lovely teacher! So patient and anyone can see how much you love those kids. I just have a question; what type of activities do your other students do in the meantime? Like... Are you able to read with all of them in one lesson? Thank you for the inspiration!

Sure. Let’s spend 10 mins having them guess rather than just telling them.

What the heck is this? It looks like tutoring to me. The content and delivery is great, but where’s the reality? Where is the rest of the class, the missing 18 to 28 students? If only I had it so good. No inappropriate behavior, no disruptions, no distractions. It’s like teacher heaven.

The other students should be doing take 5 activities or centres. Hopefully a volunteer or EA helps those students, who are working in centres, with any issues that may arise.

I’m not buying into that. In reality if there were other students present you would or you should hear them interacting and engaging in conversations. If there was additional students in the classroom and I couldn’t see or hear them, I’d be very worried because that isn’t normal.

@@carmenblanchard3596 I can easily hear the other students.
