First time since the song came out that I actually really paid attention to the lyrics and all I can say is that I wasn't prepared... I feel overwhelmed right now. Don't know how much you've drawn from your own experience, and unfortunately too many people can relate to this. I hope that anyone that has ever lived through something like this can find some serenity and meet better people along the way. My heart goes to all of you. Thank you Chrissy for this brilliant interpretation, very emotionnal and right on point. I'm still shaken !!

I had a friend who I was really close with throughout college. When they were in high-school they were too young to know things and someone hurt them very badly. Watching them struggle with that was one of the hardest things I've ever witnessed and so I can't imagine the pain of going through it. With support and love though, past experiences don't have to define us and we can learn to feel safe and open our hearts once again. This song reminds me so much of what my friend went through. Chrissy, your vulnerability is appreciated.

LYRICS: [Verse 1] Light blue Subaru You had your own car I thought that was cool Ridin' round with you Was I too young to know that? How far those seats go back 'Cause when he killed the motor Had to grow up too fast I forgot to act my age If you asked me I'd say [Pre-Chorus] God, he's so intelligent, he must know everything And I fell for all of it back then I hope that [Chorus] In some other lifetime, maybe I'd get away Instead of passing your lighter on your fire escape I tried to act your age In some other lifetime, maybe I wouldn't wait Like a dove in a crossfire, my innocence got in the way I guess that I'll just stay And try to act your age [Verse 2] I don't feel like talking I left too much of me in your apartment I wish I could forget The sinking type of feeling of dancing on your string Back when I wasn't even old enough yet to drink Forgot to act my age When I tried to make you stay [Chorus] In some other lifetime, maybe I'd get away Instead of passing your lighter on your fire escape But I tried to act your age (Mhhh) In some other lifetime, maybe I wouldn't wait Like a dove in a crossfire, my innocence got in the way I guess that I'll just stay And try to act your age [Bridge] The only way I could survive I let part of me die I only wish I could have said goodbye Goodbye [Chorus] In some other lifetime, maybe I get away I don't cry every time that I go driving upstate 'Cause love don't feel like pain (Noooo) In some other lifetime where I don't know your name Maybe we'll pass like strangers on any other day I thought that I could stay And try to act your age [Outro] Light blue Subaru I wanna rewrite everything about you I've got nothing left to lose So maybe I'll get one too

Everyone keeps saying this is "Peaceful"...are you guys listening to the lyrics? "Was I too young to know how far the seats go back? Cause when he killed the motor, I had to grow up so fast" This is about someone who was impressionable and taken advantage of at a young age by someone who was older and should've known better.

And it seems to me that there's also an underlying sentiment that isn't being noticed either. The character singing is struggling with the confusion of being taken advantage over... and still remaining in love with her abuser. [Forgot to act my age When I tried to make you stay] They broke up, but she tried to keep him with her. [The only way I could survive I let part of me die I only wish I could have said goodbye Goodbye] This means two things. She let her childhood die to be with him by acting his age, and she had to kill that part of her that loves him when they broke up(that part where love and wonder mix together). [In some other lifetime, maybe I get away I don’t cry every time that I go driving upstate Cause love don’t feel like pain In some other lifetime where I don’t know your name Maybe we’ll pass like strangers on any other day I thought that I could stay And try to act your age] Here, the struggle becomes fully revealed. She still struggles to come back because of the memory, but she also struggles with having to move on from something she wishes didn't end the way it did and yet hopefully never really began at all. But I could be wrong. Maybe you can expound on this further or prove it wrong.

This hits deep. It's like a journey through someone's first "grown-up" relationship when they were way too young for it. Many of us likely experienced this. That light blue Subaru as a symbol for thinking your older bf/gf is so cool and mature, but then it gets real when you realise you were in over your head. The chorus kills me - wishing for a do-over in another lifetime where you kept your innocence. "Like a dove in a crossfire" - oof, that line... Anyone else catch themselves remembering times they tried to act older to impress someone? This song nails that feeling of looking back and realising how much those experiences shaped you, for better or worse. But the ending though... getting your own Subaru to "rewrite everything"? Feels like taking back your narrative. Powerful shit.

This song just made me so inexplicably vulnerable. When you thought all this time that you are tough enough to get through, sometimes you aren't. AND THAT'S OKAY. Most of the songs of ATC and solos of Chrissy is motivative and inspiring. It just felt like she's telling us that being "real" with how we feel is okay. Just because you power through and get motivated everyday doesn't mean you cannot be "not okay" sometimes.

Love it! Listened to the song last night when it launched and the music video makes it even better. I've been a fan for such a long time. Since you first collabed with Alex Goot all those years ago, so nearly the beginning of ATC. Its awesome to see how far you've come as a band and now even a solo artist as well.
