that's exactly what i'm feeling/thinking. today's society, or at least a big part of it, is so determined to treat really everybody as special and yet completely inconspicuous even if they're clearly NOT. and but instead of pointing out that someone's so morbidly obese that it has to be a health issue they either cheer them and put em on a big pedestal for being "different" complete politically correct induced bullshit

She’s brave. She’s an inspiration. I’m the same size. I have this same exact shape body. I know I’m fat. I struggle with dieting every day. There is so much underneath the surface. There is a reason she is that heavy. No one knows her upbringing. I don’t condone being this fat. Food means something else to me than it does to you. Food was a coping mechanism for me. My parents were addicts and I was emotionally neglected birth-11 years old when. MY mother finally overdosed and I began to live with a relative. But during my crucial times of development I had a mother who smoked crack. And I’m not sure if everyone understands what it’s like to live with an addict to hard drugs, but all they care about is getting high. Nothing and no one is more important that getting high. Giving your newborn baby all the attention and love and care it needs to grow into a healthy addiction is compromised because getting high is more important. Addicts love their children but literally the drugs destroyed their chemical receptors that controls self control. Growing up we had no food, no toilet paper, no electric, no gas, roaches everywhere, cat shit on the floor, hookers and junkies in and out of your apartment. And then in the corner is a little 4 year old girl watching swarms street alone eating slice after slice of cheese because all the money for groceries went to drugs and that’s all that’s left. And it’s fattening. And it’s comforting. Because mom isn’t there to sing if “your happy and you know it clap your hands” mom is having sex for money for more drugs and I need elmobto drown out the sounds of sex and chaos and I wish to go back to school even tho I get bullied for smelling like cat piss and having dirty close cuz I don’t know how to do laundry and mom is still smoking crack and giving me the bare minimum. When that shit goes on nonstop for 11 years of your life is extremely hard to recover because the psychological damage is done. Eating and binge watching tv and binge playing video games helped me survive a terrible reality of no emotional support from the one who’s supposed to love and guide you through this world. Food has taken the place of love and help me cope with a lost childhood and breaking away from that comfort is extremely hard. It’s like asking you to stop loving your mother. And the lack of enpathy and understanding in this world sickens me. I did not choose this life. And my life been very depressed. But this woman gave me inspiration. I live with sever social anxiety and a lot has to do with my weight. And as much as I would like to lose weight, it’s a lot harder than you think.

Man, this is late. I haven’t had the time to reply to YT comments until today. Anyway, let me try to organize my thoughts here: Well, it’s obviously not good to be unhealthy and I didn’t say anything about how she looks. I wouldn’t lie to someone and say it’s fine to be overweight. Besides, I may not be overweight but I’m not healthy either lol. As you can probably see, there will always be people who will point out (usually unkindly) that someone is fat. That is the norm- people being kind of mean about your weight on the internet and in your daily life. I see it all the time. She’s in showbiz too, and generally they are extra cruel about appearances. And because of these things, and the fact that she can see and feel her own body, chances are pretty high that she is aware of her size. That being said, I don’t feel the need to bring her weight up (uh, so to speak). I’m sure she gets enough of that. I would rather say something positive (but still honest) instead, because the world is kinda shitty enough without me adding to it. I also think about all the other big people who see these. Even if they’re not in hollywood, people being unkind about their weight is still a daily reality. If they ever see comments like mine I want them to know there are people who try to see past appearances because, cheesy as it sounds, there’s more to them than that. Same thing, there are enough people who won’t bother to do that, and I’m not going to contribute to it. Also, I highly doubt people who point her weight out do it because they have her best interests at heart. Especially not these strangers online who bring it up in a tone that is blatantly malicious. I’ve also seen loved ones try to be brutally honest about a person’s size to try to get them into shape and it never helps. Usually only makes the situation worse. The initiative has to come from the person themselves, in a healthy way. So being mean about is kind of pointless and may even have negative effects, that kind of pressure is the type that is more likely to do something drastic like develop an eating disorder, or something crazy like use someone else’s organs as you’ve said? Of course, loved ones should try to help and not just ignore or encourage it, but that’s different from being harsh and pointing it out all the time. And those are my thoughts.

On the one hand I'm discusted by people shaming her. She's there to talk about her work. Not her weight or health. On the other hand I'm very much against telling morbidly obese people that they are pretty and fine the way they are. Stop making jokes about her. And stop saying it's fine to be that size. Just focus on the subject of the interview and shut the hell up

His question “what does the cow say?was in reference to his mock Trump interview opener. She mentions barn animal noises and he thinks it’s funny and he said it without thinking because he was, as usual, looking for any way to make fun of Drumpf; I think he realized what he did but had to just keep going to not draw attention to it. I don’t see Stephen doing that intentionally.

It seems the problem in the conversation about obesity is that any word that could be related to a fat person, it will be interpreted as shaming. So, for example, if her dress had balloons instead of flowers and Colbert would have said, "nice dress, so colorful with all those balloons", even though he would be DESCRIBING the dress, many would overthink the meaning of this and say that by saying "balloons" he was making a joke about her weight. If you continue with this rationale, you will get to the conclusion that it's impossible to speak freely in front of fat people, that it's like walking on eggshells, because everything you say might be considered "fat shaming". What happens then? People are afraid of being misinterpreted and so they avoid fat people. We have to be smarter than this and stop considering everything offensive, please.

What the f**k is wrong with people? The vast majority of comments here are just sickening, self-righteous, and tasteless. Her weight is no one’s business, it’s not up to anyone to disallow her eating (the ridiculous “enabling” claim), and she isn’t selfishly depleting resources (anyone who has a biological child depletes the earth’s resources far more than she ever could and how much she eats has nothing to do with malnutrition). Does anyone think she don’t know she’s overweight? I’m so ashamed of people. She’s a lovely, talented person and most of you don’t care. Shameful.

It's crazy. (Also, I guess mostly Americans are commenting here, you should be kind of used to seeing fat people...? America has the worst food industry and culture when it comes to being able to stay thin anyway. (Where can you WALK in America? It seems like you need a car for everything..) And instead of changing that, fat people are getting shamed. I don't get it. Grow the fuck up.)

What does the cow say? She should've replied. " Oh so we are gonna play a game? Ok you first...what does the DONKEY say? ...I thought that was rude. I love her bubbly personality and she is very articulate. :)

She has spoken about learning to listen to her need to emotionally eat and how she opts for crunchy food when angry. Chrissy also spoke about her childhood when her mother went hungry to feed them and she associated food with emotion (good and bad). I admire her candour and ability to keep going and trying and living no matter what.

To elaborate, if you watch the "interview" with Trump and Putin, which is also on the late shows KZbin channel, you'll see Stephen ask Trump "what does a cow say," and Trump respond "Rough". Asking Chrissy was a callback to that joke.
