May the LORDs name be praised every nanosecond; from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. GOD bless the narrator, the preacher and the recipient ❤

What a beautiful and comforting sermon. Mr Spurgeon was truly blessed with such a clear, compelling and compassionate way with words. Dear Lord, thank you for never leaving me nor forsaking me, and reminding me of this through your signs and servants. You bring us joy in the middle of the darkest times 🙏🏽

Spurgeon never failed to deliver! This teaching gives me pause. Another teaching of Spurgeon states we should not be too certain of ourselves in trying to determine the exact 'nature' of The Triune God. This teaching clarifies Spurgeon's insights in this regard? John 14:3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." ESV The 21st chapter of the book of The Revelation is a description of New Jerusalem and also notes a 'new heaven and new earth'. Whether Jesus ever sleeps or ever slept again after the resurrection seems uncertain. The verses in John and Revelation are quite definite concerning the afterlife and more appealing to me rather than the destination proposed by the question, "are you going to heaven or hell when you die?". A definite destination like new Jerusalem is very appealing and as per John 14:2 prepared for us by Jesus.

Things would sure have been different if Jesus had left the disciples in the boat in disgust! Sometimes Spurgeon's imagery makes me smile. I end up copying notes from the transcripts because they speak to my situation. 🥰

Another thought on fate vs predestination and predestination vs freewill. This thought however is somewhat complex but possibly will appeal to any who took a serious interest in learning science in high school and particularly the 'enigmatic' behavior of the electron and possibly other subatomic particles. Science claims, and possibly correctly so, the electron at times 'is' or 'behaves like' what we might think of as an 'incredibly' tiny object which is 'solid' or at least seemingly 'solid', while at other times it 'is' or 'behaves like' what is referred to as a 'wave' which may extend spatially for some distance. Speculation of this behavior could lead to analogizing this with freewill and predestination being characteristics of our being created in the image of God. I.e. two aspects or characteristics of our nature as created. A cautionary note to this analogy is that it could lead to some form of Animism. See Romans 1:25.....'…...worshipping created things rather than the Creator.' Another proof that Paul was guided by the Holy Spirit!? What gave people the idea to worship created objects from the earliest times? The commentaries of Alexander McLaren so often point to Christ but his view of Adam is possibly incorrect. Clifhanger

12' to 13' Spurgeon explains fate vs predestination. It may be that some beliefs from Hinduism regarding juggernaut was introduced in some teaching. And possibly very early since it is possible one of the disciples, Thomas, went to India. And more recently at the Colombian exposition of 1893 in Chicago this pernicious belief may have got a boost with the perverse work of the Theosophical Society which according to Wikipedia Thomas Edison was a member. It seems that many people today will use phrase which seem to have deep roots relating to this type of belief. And what of our image of 'blind' justice here in the USA!? Wikipedia gives some history of this at the article 'Lady Justice'. The original intent was likely offensive to those in power.
