@@luisamarie8196 It got negative reviews from critics when it came out including the two most famous in the world (Siskel & Ebert) if you look at the Academy Awards you might think it was beloved because it was up for 6 but when you look at them, it's all technical stuff, it wasn't even nominated for best picture.

Christian Bale was amazing in that movie he won an oscar for The Fighter and he was so underrated and he should have won something for this movie! Anything Christian Bale does is amazing. Christian Bale should have played in Fifty Shades Of Grey He was great in American Psycho.

You're kidding, right? It was nominated for best picture that year. It was a big deal when it came out. In fact, everything Spielberg made was big news. The question is, who DOESN'T know about it? Maybe just younger people.

@@pferreira1983 I'm not sure which country you're in, but in the US, it has 75% approval rating from critics and 90% from the public on Rotten Tomatoes. The IMDB gives it 7.7 out of 10. You would have no trouble finding good reviews online.

@@lizardas Maybe in retrospect but at the time the movie wasn't well received. Did well in BAFTAs but that's about it. Reviews were very indifferent towards it. A lot of critics didn't see what the fuss was about.

My initial comment was in response to the OP, who claimed that "not many people knew about it". That is simply false. You may not like a movie, but that doesn't mean you don't know about it.

Not much here. Was hoping to hear more about his experience in E.O.T.S. -- that movie brought Christian enormous attention and critical acclaim. His ability to run through a series of demanding emotional states, sometimes within the same scene, merits some reflective comment.

Cher and the Kardasians only support the film for their own personal aggrandizement. Other films have been made about the Armenian genocide, but they weren't Hollywood blockbusters, so the noble celebrities didn't notice them, they didn't give then the attention they crave. Empire of the Sun is one of my favorite movies and I loved Christian Bale as Jamie. I also read the book, something most celebrities fail to do.
